Via Maddow:

"The case started with 5 women the state’s ban stopped from getting medical care for their complicated pregnancies. The case has since grown to include 20 women and two doctors.

In August, a judge issued an injunction allowing Texans with complicated pregnancies to get an abortion if their doctor made a 'good faith judgment' that it was necessary.

The Supreme Court overturned that ruling today."

What's ironic was that the killed in the 1990s arguing that they didn't want to let the government getting between a patient and their doctor.

I mean, it was a lie back then, but the irony is still there.

Medicare Advantage plans are not only ripping off America's seniors, they are bankrupting physicians and hospitals with their fraudulent scheme of "delay, deny and not pay."

The jig is up: "16% of health systems are planning to stop accepting one or more Medicare Advantage plans in the next two years. Another 45% said they are considering the same but have not made a final decision."

That seems to be pissing off Medicare Advantage CEOs. Sachin Jain, MD, CEO of SCAN Group — one of the nation's largest nonprofit Medicare Advantage companies said, "You're a nonprofit system saying you're no longer going to accept the insurance that low-income people actually have. We'll see how that works out for you."

No, you pathological piece of shit, we'll see how that works out for YOU. These health systems are already not getting paid by your fraudulent system of collecting insurance premiums but denying payment for care. They have nothing to lose. You're a sociopathic predator and you deserve bankruptcy and imprisonment.

Yesterday my husband and I went and got the newly recommended Covid booster, and our RSV vaccine that we keep putting off.

We paid $0.

Because we are over 65. Because we have Medicare.

Every single American/legal immigrant should have this access to primary disease prevention. Everyone.

An woman who left a toddler at home to go on a 10 day vacation has been sentenced to life in prison after the toddler died. There was no excuse for what the woman did. But this was a tragedy waiting to happen. She had depression and mental health issues. will mean people can get help without charge and without the stigma. And Ohio was a forced pregnancy state at the time, which means that unwanted children are born & subject to abuse like this. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2024/03/19/ohio-toddler-murder-vacation-kristel-candelario/

This is why Democrats lose elections. People have a right to petition the government for a redress of grievances. PFAS, or forever chemicals, have been linked to massive health problems. Now, the Biden Administration is claiming immunity from 27 different lawsuits over it. At the very least, we should have so that people can pay for treatment. https://truthout.org/articles/us-government-seeks-immunity-from-27-lawsuits-related-to-pfas-contamination/?utm_source=Truthout&utm_campaign=257f1d38d2-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2023_11_16_07_22_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-3a19fc1bfc-%5BLIST_EMAIL_ID%5D

Even if one believes that life begins at conception, endangering the lives of pregnant mothers is not the way to end abortion. More medical research is necessary so that medical professionals can prevent triploidy (where the fetus has 69 chromosomes instead of 46) or Down's Syndrome. We need free college so that anybody who wants to enter the medical field and protect human life can do so. And we need so that people can afford help. https://ncnewsline.com/2024/03/09/both-of-these-women-needed-to-end-their-pregnancies-only-one-got-to-do-it-on-her-terms/

Related: Any politician or insurance salesman that says "you can pick your own insurance company" in our current system, and that's why we shouldn't have like every other civilized country, is a lying turd, a baldfaced liar, a charlatan, and a threat to America.

The US cannot claim to be a civilized country until the health insurance industry is utterly destroyed and replaced with a national system. Liars and all.

We should federalize We can close the coverage gap in the ten holdout red states so that millions of working poor can be insured.

We could create a "Diamond" tier plan with no deductibles or co-pays that includes dental/vision/hearing benefits and offer it to anyone up to 138% of the federal poverty level. It can be offered on a sliding scale to everyone else through the exchanges.

(Yes, would be better, but there aren't 60 Senate votes for it yet.)

Profit is antithetical to positive healthcare outcomes. Period. End of story.

Researchers examined Medicare claims for 662,095 patients at 51 different hospitals owned by private equity firms and compared the outcomes to those of more than 4 million hospitalizations at 259 hospitals that were not owned by private equity firms:

At private equity firm hospitals:

  • 25.4% increase in hospital-acquired conditions
  • 27% increase in falls
  • 38% increase in central line infections despite performing 16% fewer percutaneous central lines
  • 100% increase in surgical site infections despite 8% fewer surgeries
  • And all despite treating younger and therefore presumably healthier patients

REMINDER FOR
LAID-OFF & UNEMPLOYED
AMERICANS

there is no shame to use all the social services you have paid with your taxes, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A WHITE, MID/HIGH INCOME EARNER.

welfare is racialized in this country to deprive all Americans of the social services WE PAY for.

it’s imperative y’all flood social services offices because if you don't, that's why the griftocracy keeps cutting local, state & federal budgets.

so here’s what you can do after losing your job:

/1

blogdiva,

thanks. am seeing an uptick of laid-off people posting desperate pleas for money and it made me wonder: have they done their due diligence getting their unemployment benefits and finding out what services they have available?

given the demographics —most coming from high income industries in tech— and the toxic techbro culture, i don't think most young tech workers even know their unemployment rights.

if we want and , this is part of that activism.

Holy moly if we had there would be a hundred thousand financialization specialists out of work.

Vulture capitalists would lose billions from their consolidation frenzies.

Insurance and care monopolies would be screwed.

I mention this just to list the powerful moneied interests that would 1) fight and then 2) modify to atrociousness any and 3) fight it in court any attempt by the people to do their own bidding.
