"A cynical $13 million advertising campaign launched by #FossilFuel interests in 1997 to prevent US ratification of the #Kyoto#climate treaty made the case that the US was doing more than its fair share ... in efforts to mitigate #ClimateChange.
Public opinion on climate has never shaken that mentality: Americans have long felt they carry an unfair burden but, surprisingly, #EmergingEconomies are the ones making the big gains on #renewables."
"#CleanEnergy technologies — including #wind and #solar power, #battery storage and #ElectricVehicles — are now competitive and in many cases cheaper than coal, oil or gas. That progress has been led not only by #Europe, but by #China, #India and other emerging markets such as #Chile, #Morocco and #Vietnam. Notice the two plastic water bottles possibly left by some kids who must’ve used it for ‘spotting’ - a term used for a location (spot) to have beer/whiskey, smoke weed, and ‘chill’ (as they say).
Comparing the two places I've lived the longest as an adult: #Chicago and #Delhi. Two places. Two continents. Different rates of increase but increases nonetheless. I've always thought that the biggest strength and flaw of human beings is that we are adaptable. But can we really adapt to these changes? Should we even need to?
I grieve for these changes. But I especially grieve for Delhi and people in India.
