i've always felt we need a #labor#union for the unemployed: students, stay-at-home parents and caregivers (married and otherwise) all fall in that category but aren't counted.
Last year I posted a link to an article on Alan Canfora's website regarding Ohio National Guard's order to fire on students at Kent State. This year, I can't use that link because the website is gone. That makes me very sad. Alan Canfora was the student shot in the wrist at the Kent State protest on May 4, 1970.
@3dogcouch When this happened one of my brothers, a Kent State freshman, was on the campus, while another brother, a US Marine, was in the jungles of Vietnam. I was far away from both of them. There was nothing I could do. My heart was shattered, anxiety through the roof.
Recently, seeing police response to protests, my thoughts have turned to that horrific day.

It is my duty now for the future to point out that the band DEVO formed in the early 1970s "in response to the failed promise of utopian progress peddled by post-WWII politicians and consumer culture" and amid the turmoil surrounding Vietnam war protests in the US.
The core members of DEVO were friends with two of the four students who were shot by gas-masked National Guardsman at the May 4, 1970, Vietnam war protest on the campus of Kent State University in Ohio. Three founding members of the band attended Kent State at that time.
Gerald Casale (co-founder, co-lead vocalist and bass player) said that was "the most DEVO day of his life." The theory that humankind is evolving in reverse. That was the first evidence that hit him square in the gut and the heart and the mind that this was true.

I don’t understand how Kyle Rittenhouse can walk onto a college campus. Where I went to school, with a bunch of hippies, he would have needed the riot squad to escort him onto campus or be beaten to death and left for the otters. As a student I would have gladly copped and assault charge to keep that shitbag off campus. Besides, you can always claim defense — he’s a known mass shooter.
