The exciting thing about tech, we're seeing a race to get better camera tech into lower and lower priced phones. OnePlus is battling well against iPhone Pros and Galaxy Ultras, but at SIGNIFICANTLY lower prices!
CONTROVERSY! It's a little concerning. My phone keeps trying to connect to a mystery network, listed as an ISP WiFi that (to my knowledge) doesn't do business here in California. Has anyone else seen something like this? What's going on?
Early access on Patreon: The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro have received their last updates!

A phone from 2020, it's not just "not obsolete", it's still an actively competitive premium device today.
Just discovered on my new Android phone (OnePlus Nord 3 5G Lite) that there is a little button that appears in the nav drawer that, if you rotate your phone and you don't have auto rotate on, it will allow you to rotate the screen to that dimension and effectively stick to it until you rotate and press the same button to rotate back.
I sometimes need to rotate the phone to see content, but it's only appropriate at certain times. Not only that, but we've all had landscape photos which you try and turn the phone, only for the phone to rotate the landscape photo as well, thus making it impossible to see the photo.
I can't believe it's taken so long for such a simple piece of functionality to exist. Is it all Android phones, or just my OnePlus phone? 🤔
It's a big compliment to say, it's EXCEEDINGLY similar to OnePlus' most expensive phone. There are a few differences worth examining, and we should finally wrap up that "controversy" over the different camera sensors being used.
Another #Android phone, possibly a partnership with #OnePlus, is bringing back the headphone jack. It's oriented to "audiophiles" which greatly humors me since the pitch to drop the headphone jack depended on marketing that Bluetooth would offering superior quality.
This one would include both a standard ⅛“ and a 4.44mm balanced jack!
CHALLENGE! I'm not a big fan of wireless charging on smartphones, but my buddy Ricky is. We hosted a two-part debate to argue out what's the more convenient way to charge your phone! https://youtu.be/VOnJcQjcjds?si=9wgmLeCHhSPpzPMq
Wireless charging vs FAST charging! What do YOU prefer?
@SomeGadgetGuy I've not experienced either, only slow wired charging and super slow wireless charging.
I'd like a phone with both fast charging options for different situations.
For example it would be much easier at night just to have a wireless charger than fumble about looking for my cable. Whereas if I need to go somewhere in half an hour and want a fun battery, a super fast wired connection would be the better solution.
I gave KDE Plasma Mobile another go. It improved a LOT over the past few months. No crashes yet! It's a lot more stable now. Although not as stable as Phosh.
I like their whole "just copy Android" philosophy. Everything feels familiar and intuitive. I might keep it like this.
Someone over on GitLab did some really impressive work into reverse engineering the Qualcomm IMS bringup for VoLTE service on Linux phones. I tested his proof of concept IMS data service tool and was successfully able to place and receive calls on my #postmarketOS#oneplus 6T from LTE/4G mode! Audio worked in both directions! IMPRESSIVE!
