🫖 During our outage this morning, people attempting to connect with Flipboard.Social found that we were declaring ourselves to be a teapot. Here's the origin of the unusual internet error message. Tell us, were you familiar with it?
Anyway, that's today's exercise sorted, and then some. I think XZibit would like #Pittsburgh; it heard u like hills, so it put hills on its hills, so you can hike while you hike^W ride the funiculars.
@bitprophet I rode it whenever I went back to the 'burgh for a visit. I'd usually go up the Mon, walk to the Duquesne (with a detour to Shiloh Street), then down the Duquesne and catch a bus downtown at the foot.
Retour de la salle de bloc d'escalade hier, en voiture (c'est loin et pas safe en vélo), avec KiD.

Exploring restic for backing up my workstation (to local external volumes and probably "the cloud" too) at the suggestion of a friend. https://restic.readthedocs.io/en/latest/

@mikef Seems like consumer drives supposedly should be good for 1 year offline at 30C (worst case), and 5-10 years seems within the realm of possibility (for a drive in good condition).
I think as with anything "don't rely on a single backup" is probably the best policy (see also: "RAID is not a substitute for backups").
Not sure there are any great options for high capacity (100s of GBs or more) long term offline storage...
Second time at #Gym after joining. I figure "I'm not that unfit." I push myself.
35 minutes in and despite having stopped all exertion, and lying on the floor for another 20 minutes, my heart rate hasn't dropped below 120, I have severe pins and needles in both arms from the elbow down and I cant stop shaking.
I did somehow not throw up, so I guess I can count that as a win.
Tee hee. That moment you get your boss to carry a bright yellow Geiger counter onto a flight for a project to track radiation on aircraft and you realise you forgot to tell him both that you had set the radiation alarm too low and had left the sound alert on. Also the sound alert was set to "Danger Will Robinson". #oops
I opened a cabinet in the kitchen that I clearly don't use very often and rediscovered a bag of potatoes I had purchased back in like, November last year. Does this count as successful gardening? 😂 #oops#growingPotatoes#kitchenSurprise#gardening
Per Jalopnik: According to the Tesla owner’s manual, “Vehicle functions, including some safety systems and opening or closing the doors or windows, may be limited or disabled when installation is in progress and you could damage the vehicle.”
Turns out if you are using eclipse glasses as a temporary filter on a telescope and you actually find the sun, you will know it because the eclipse glasses will have a hole burned in them (Nobody was looking through at the time, we're all ok).
