Scientists have mapped one of the most hazardous spots on the globe in unprecedented detail: a 600-mile geologic boundary just off the #PacificNorthwest coast.
Along this fraught stretch, called the #CascadiaSubductionZone, 2 pieces of the #Earth’s crust slide against each other, building up stresses capable of unleashing a catastrophic 9.0-magnitude #earthquake & generating a #tsunami, w/waves as high as 40 feet.
The first of my royal purple & golden sweet #SnowPeas have emerged. I grow the more commonly known green Oregon snow peas too. I love eating #peas - fresh n raw from the garden or cooked.
I have 3 pots of #sorrel#SaladGreens. This is one of them. I started all 3 pots, last June. We've been harvesting from same pots - all through last year to now. They keep coming up, after every harvest. I love eating sorrel - raw or cooked! One of my fave greens to eat.
"Whether you’re an experienced #cook looking for new ideas, or just starting out making #Shabbat and #holiday#meals for your family, there’s still something for you in Braids. You can find something to serve at your next Sunday morning brunch, Shabbat dinner with the family, #Shavuot festivities, or even just on a regular weeknight at home. Sanford offers her readers a look inside what it means to be a #Jewish cook in the #PacificNorthwest, while ensuring that her #recipes can translate to wherever it is you may live."
I got the vase for free. It's part of set of 3 glassblown art vases. Got them from a free pile from local estate clear out, a few years ago. I'm good at scoring lots of #freebies & rarely buy anything new.
Some of the #footpath#NatureTrails we walked on today 😊 It was sure nice to see no other humans in the park. We enjoyed a lot of nature delights, loved all the birds calling & singing, saw a squirrel & muskrat in creek areas & had a lovely time together ❤️
#CowParsnip is the ONLY #Heracleum species that's native to #NorthAmerica. There's many look-a-likes including the very toxic giant hogweed. I don't recommend trying to #forage & harvest them unless you're very experienced with identifying differences because it's dangerous to do so.
#Jasmine is blooming again. We keep them indoors for 3/4 of year & move outside for late Spring-Summer. Good indoor natural air purifying #plant. Flowers are #edible & used to make tea & fruits used in #Chinese#TraditionalMedicine.
Something about #ferns & raindrops falling on still #waters, that instantly brings calming, #peaceful energies to my soul. #Nature provides many free to access & free to absorb, #HealingPowers 🙏💗
