#Borage cutting #PlantPropagation success.
Last month, I took 6 borage cuttings to propagate. 4 out of the 6 were successful. This one developed very quickly, after developing roots. First flower buds have emerged 🙂
Switching to - showing y'all this wonderful volunteer #buttercrunch#lettuce plant that decided to grow out of rocks in our front yard! What a lovely #edible surprise 😊
It's proven to be #DroughtResistant, once established. One of very few #plants proven to be resistant to air pollution too. I highly recommend this for #ClimateAction#gardening. It's a gorgeous plant too.
Large #edible#perennial that needs full sun & no shade. As it's namesake, tolerant of high sodium soil & wind resistant - it depends on winds to pollinate hermaphroditic flowers. I recommend this easy to grow #plant, for coastal food gardens.
All hostas are fully #edible - from root to shoots to stems to foliage to flowers. Roots/shoots/leaves taste like combo of asparagus & endives - cook them up, in similar ways. Flowers can be sugared & they taste like raw honey.
Rats dug up 5 of my snow pea plants. Peanut butter baited traps are going back out in specific spots - tonight.
I tied some remaining snow pea plants up. More snow peas will be transplanted in 2 weeks.
My other plant seedlings are slowly growing in one small DIY greenhouse.
Gardeners: do you have recommendations for reputable resources/experts on planting seeds directly in the soil? I’m in USDA zone 7B with a last frost of April 15 (probably a little earlier this year) and I don’t have energy to start seeds inside and transplant them. They will go into raised metal beds prepared with quality soil and an in-bed vermicompost system. Thank you. Also open to suggestions for hashtags and groups. #Gardening#GardeningMastodon #VegetableGardening#Permaculture@gardening
