The wax gourd in the forest that you said looked like a squid!
They used to be raw squid, but when I went to the forest today, they were "grilled squid"!

Close-up photo of wintersweet berries. Squid? Or is it an octopus? Anyway those berries are brown and look riper than they did at the beginning of spring.

When my get too ripe - I fry them up in coconut oil & eat with vanilla ice cream. I make fried bananas in a few different ways. This is the easiest/fastest version.

Asher also got his first few licks of ice cream today - he doesn't get much human foods at all(not good for his cat belly).

4 pieces of banana in frying pan, with coconut oil. Tops are nicely browned.

Last night I learned that pistachios are related to mangos. On the tree they have a thin mango flavored fruit, and before roasting they taste like chickpeas.

Anyway, the seasonal pistachio loaf at Woodlawn Coffee is delicious!

Anyone else happened across these apple 'segmenters' (I have no idea what they're really called)? We were given one as a present, it's pretty cool.

Life Pro Tip: Wash your produce. Wash your fruit before eating. Wash your veggies.

I have been bingeing foodie videos on SM and I have been horrified with the not washing!

Project Pineapple Watch continues. The baby pineapple has about finished blooming and is now beginning to grow a clump of green leaves out of the top of the fruit. I never knew they were so colorful in the early stages. We should have a ripe pineapple by summer!

Solanum corymbiflora, cold hardy tamarillo

The blooms started in early spring. The internet says they bloom in the fall. (Lies, LIES!) Plant is not self-fertile so you need two. Currently hand-pollinating bc only two plants have opened flowers and the rest are still buds. No pests noticed. Needs protection from high winds.
