I got regenerative braking working on the new motor! With regen active on a long downhill, controlling our downhill descent was very easy, and we reclaimed 150-370W/h along the way.
#Monterey is beautiful, but it's "Allergy Central" for me. Seriously looking at #SantaCruz for a future home base; I spent most of my childhood there (on the Westside), which tended to be less inflammatory for my quirky physiology.
Congratulations to #Lookout#SantaCruz for winning a Pulitzer Prize! I get most of my news about local government and civic issues from them. And it’s free.
Great story in this week’s #GoodTimes#SantaCruz, “I want my mp3”, about a couple of computer science students and music lovers at #UCSantaCruz in 1993 who used digitization and data compression, both in their infancy, to create the IUMA (Internet Underground Music Archive). This was way before Napster or anything else. Today, if you search for IUMA on archive.org you will get 45,000 hits. #music#internet
While walking on the Santa Cruz board walk, I noticed this inquisitive Harbor Seal checking out what the kid was doing on the beach collecting water in their plastic beach bucket. Santa Cruz, California, April 2024
Saturday March 2 8:00AM
It rained heavily off and on last night, and the wind gusted fiercely at times.
In the morning, while on the way to drop off my ballot (vote ya'll) passed the Cedar Street parking lot in downtown #SantaCruz#California and saw this:
A tree came down in the night landing between two cars, and If the tree top been higher would have missed them, instead, staving in their trunks/rear ends.

A closeup of the Monarch butterfly situation in Lighthouse Field in #SantaCruz#California
The butterflies appear as a nest of bright orange and black flowers resting on the bough of a coastal cypress, reminiscent of a field of California poppies or orange nasturtiums, if they could flap their petals like wings.
Directly across the street from America's favorite municipal stormwater sump pump is the massive new apartment block rising 6 stories over Laurel Street between Pacific Avenue and Front Street in downtown #SantaCruz, California.
One of the two adjacent developments is dried-in and will be moveinable very soon. These and other nearby developments, and the three or four more to come, are changing our little downtown very quickly.
