Well, this is nice. I had this on 7", but this is a 12" maxi-single, with extra tracks I don't know, and a gatefold sleeve. It's making me want to start a list for my Fall records, something I've tried, and abandoned at least once before. That way madness lies.

Live at the Witch Trials is the debut studio album by The Fall, released on this day in 1979 and is not, despite its title, a live album.
In memory of Mark E. Smith, singer, songwriter, musician and founding member (and only permanent member) of the post-punk band The Fall from 1976, passed away 6 years ago today.
#GreatAlbums1980s - #TheFall – This Nation's Saving Grace (1985). Mark E. Smith and his band of ruffians defied every convention of what pop music was "supposed" to be. Tied to no certain genre, The Fall were the musical equivalent of a car held together with duct tape. It might get you there, or it might break up and crash on the way. Give it time and This Nation offers up brilliant swipes at modern life on "Barmy," "Gut of the Quantifier" and (on reissue) "Cruiser's Creek."
Been a while since I've had time to write a music article but there's a piece by me in the current Wire magazine - which is a special THE FALL / Mark E Smith themed issue. I got to talk to a musician & artist I greatly admire who is closely linked to the band and Smith himself -- Eleni Poulou -- who was very gracious with her time and great fun to talk to.
One of the other writers is some guy called Stuart Lee ;-)
