Mark your calendars now for our June meetup! Thursday, June 13th, @joshkarpel will be our guide on the topics of concurrency, parallelism, when to use them, and why. Should be a great talk!
Programming Note: we don't yet have a pizza sponsor secured. 🚫🍕🚫 If you or an organization where you have a contact might want to sponsor refreshments for our group, please reach out!

"Huge crowd last night at the #LiberationShabbat service at the UW Madison tent encampment (liberated zone)! Organized by a group of #UWMadison#Jewish students. Very moving! And a quick transition afterwards in time for the Muslim call for prayer in the same space, beautiful!"
I'm not entirely supportive of these current protests, but it seems not in keeping with UW's traditions and ethos to not at least have at least a little bit of rabble-rousing.
I am excited to announce that I will be joining the University of Wisconsin-Madison's iSchool in the fall to pursue my PhD in Information Science, where I plan to research cybersecurity!
I'm looking forward to moving to Madison Wisconsin for the next chapter of my education!
Taking the family to a physics program on campus today. I was talking to my wife a few weeks ago about how we don't take more advantage of the university's offerings, and then this was recommended to her. Should be cool! And we'll get some Babcock Ice Cream afterwards!
Thanks, Gov Evers, for saying it like it is:
> "That's as dumb as it comes," Democratic Gov. Tony Evers said. "These people deserve raises. It's been passed by the Legislature and to have it being hijacked at the last minute by one person, that's wrong, too."
A brief re-#introduction as an ex-pat of the about-to-close econtwitter.net server...
I'm an economist who develops and applies (mostly using #rstats) methods to learn about the value of clinical and policy interventions for improving population health and health equity. I currently direct the #PhD program in Health Policy and Administration at #PennState and am a fierce advocate of public #highered, #academicfreedom and university shared governance. Alumnus of #UWMadison and #Georgetown.
Super proud #Minnesota dad today, in #Wisconsin for my daughter, a soon to be #uwmadison#uwgrad graduate. Feels funny to be in Camp Randall. A deserved happy day for the Class of 2023.
Things 'kick off' at noon.
