I think what saddens me most about the growing number of #WordPress takes like this is the gaslighting by the "community" which insists everything is awesome. What is worse is the "if you don't like it, fix it" garbage from the same people. WordPress, as a project, has never been good about taking contributions that don't align with the goals of a very few. Today's WP is no different. You cannot fix this by contributing to a project that doesn't want your contribution. https://dbushell.com/2024/05/07/modern-wordpress-themes-yikes/
#Shaarli: WPCode keeps reappearing as a malware after deleting | WordPress.org - Options à insérer dans le fichier wp-config (racine d'une installation de WordPress) pour empêcher la modification des fichiers via l'éditeur interne et désactiver l'ajout d'extensions.
Question for #WordPress experts: you can tweak the size of for example the title on the page. But you cannot change how it looks in the editor right? I find this weird because the editor should provide you a WYSIWYG imo, or is this to complicated to achieve in WordPress?
TIL #WordPress has a command in its build script to copy PHP files from "src" to another folder ...
npm run build:copy-php – builds the code for production and opts into copying all PHP files from the src directory and its subfolders to the output directory. By default, only PHP files listed in the render field in the detected
... and now I'm asking myself why. And if anybody of the WordPress people ever used something like Xdebug 🤔
"True data liberation would be the ability to use core WordPress with your other software, keeping WordPress relevant, not trying to pretend like migrating content from Wix is what’s holding #WordPress back."
Something I frequently need in Siren is a flowchart to help explain how different affiliate programs work, so I'm putting together a flowchart block. Making good use of the LeaderLine library and core's group block, as well as an existing card block I already had laying around. Really loving how much less code I'm writing to do simple stuff like flex layouts with full site editing.
One project I have kept up with for 2 years now is Kana, a #WordPress development environment. I haven't talked about it too much but, as I've transitioned back to development work, particularly with WordPress, I'm really impressed at how great it has been for my workflow already and I've identified plenty I can do to make it even better. https://chriswiegman.com/2024/05/the-state-of-kana-a-status-report/
I'm still getting used to using a full site theme for WordPress. But WOW today was a win. I'm working on setting up the documentation portal for Siren, and literally just created a custom post type, and that was the extend of the code. I'm able to build all of the template layouts for the post type in the FSE context.
Ok this is playing a bit of “six degrees” here but I’m wondering if the part about Wordpress taking off after the Clinton affair and tumblr rising as a competitor is true?
My first #PHP was 8.0, still in school, and I confess that I began learning it with the prejudice of it being a junky, terrible language everybody was making fun of. Fast forward ~1 year later, after finishing my internship, where I used full stack #Laravel mainly, and having discovered that not only it wasn't that bad, but really a pleasure to work with. Not perfect, but perfectly suitable for its use cases and, what's perfect anyway? So reading this has been a joy. :D https://developerjoy.co/blog/php-doesnt-suck-anymore
I’m working on the launch documentation for Siren. I’m pretty comfortable with video, so I decided a great place to start is by building a getting started course using Lifter LMS. I think that’ll translate into text fairly fast.
😂 That was odd! When I mentioned @darnell on my #WordPress blog, it pinged my #Flipboard account on my iPhone even though #ActivityPub is not yet activated (I received a push notification, which later revealed nothing 😆).

I didn't come up with Siren Affiliates overnight. It represents years of experience, both as a developer and a user of Affiliate programs.
Siren's unique affiliate program building capabilities makes it possible for your affiliates (and any other partner) to work together in ways that are simply not possible on other platforms.
