Was sending elderly patients into care homes, without Covid status ascertained, a form of genocide?

Hmmm.... an intersting trend is discernible:

we've had the debacle turned into a powerful TV drama...

This week, many of us have watched , another powerful drama, this time about staff dealing with .

Now ITV is about to make a TV drama about the scandal.

There's always been campaigning TV drama, but right now it looks like the best way of making the class listen to people's concerns & anger.

at work?

: Since 5 Dec 2023, the number of hospital beds occupied by people suffering from Covid hasn't been less than 2,500.
๐Ÿฅ11-weeks where the number of people occupying hospital beds infected with this airborne virus averaged around 3,532.
No wonder the NHS is exhausted!

If you've watched (I have), and found it compelling but harrowing (I did), then you'll be interested in this opinion piece by the author of the book on which the series was based (who also worked on the series), Rachek Clarke.

The key message: staff wee treated, and continue to be treated as expendable by the political class in this country.

Having now watched all 3 episodes of on real-time TV, the Q. that keeps coming to mind, is how did they cope?

the patients, the , the and (yes, even) the managers?

made to deal with a situation made worse by a Govt. making it up as it went along, often making it worse due to a lack of concerted leadership, we sacrificed professionals to , ending over 400 of their lives...

a truly harrowing three hours TV which summed up our own shortcomings

I girded my loins and watched

It felt like breaking open a barely joined wound.

It reminded me that one of the massive problems with institutional loyalty is that it causes people to circumvent their own critical thinking skills.

Remittancegirl,
@Remittancegirl@mstdn.social avatar

I remember getting into a huge Twitter brawl with someone who insisted that regular folks were too stupid to know how to don a surgical mask.

When institutional authorities lie - telling people that masks are detrimental when the truth was the simply did have enough - not only is trust lost, for a long time, but also we arenโ€™t motivated innovate and improvise.

How governments managed to convince so many people to overlook the basic laws of physics - any barrier is better than no barrier when the aim is to keep something out - still fucks my mind up.

Good morning @evelynefoerster
We were looking at your Mountain Trails, so I found mine to show you.. We took a trip to Cape Breton Island, in my last OLD RV Camper, with two cats (then) and stayed at the Provincial Park https://parks.novascotia.ca/park/whycocomagh in area.
The towns, Cabot Trail and Beaches are all around, it was central for us explorers.
A little lead-in.. Avoid 100 series highways in . They are for speed, not scenery or culture. Here's the only highway we had to cross

Now that the farmer's field has been mowed,
A white cat, lays on a wood block cover, over the propane stove inside the RV Camper I am driving. The cats travel nicely with us in an RV, picking their favorite resting areas. Indifferent about the hay fields.
