Got my #SNES out of storage finally although only have Zelda: Link to the Past and Super Metroid which will keep me going. Definitely need to buy a replacement original UK/PAL copy of #Earthbound and #ChronoTrigger. If you have either of those for sale for a reasonable price, hit me up!
Say what you will about #RPGMaker, I'm having too much fun building a town builder with time-travel mechanics in it.
Just found out how to clone events between two entirely different maps, even if they were player placed. The two maps exist in two different time periods.
Soon, things will visually AGE with time. You can only build in the past.
I want the #ChronoTrigger -but-with-building-mechanics I want to come true so badly.
Time to play #ChronoTrigger! I haven't played since the end of October (I left off at https://mastodon.social/@GamesMissed/111304612395488997), so to review: I'm in the Fiendlord's Keep in the year 600 AD, my party is Crono, Frog, and Marie, and I've defeated the Magus' lieutenants Slash and Flea. I'm off to find the Magus.
I'm about 20 hours in on #SeaOfStars and my pace starts to slow down… I'm at that point, like in #ChronoTrigger, where I'm super happy with what I've done, but nervous for what lies ahead. I love the tension but it slows down my progress. Suddenly, every hour matters now. I’m all in, but in absolutely no rush.
Time to head up the right branch of the castle again. The kids surrounding the treasure chest are still kids, not monsters, but now the first one asks me whether I want their treasure. If I decline, they respond, "Really? It's good."
I enter the next room. The king is still there, but the encounter is very different. As before, he starts with, "Nadia, return to the castle ..."
much too slow story - enemies don't feel dangerous, story sounds okay but develops too slow
I don't even feel like like the different combat is nearly the worst problem - would have expected that (love tripple-tech, hate real time combat like zelda)
I missed out on #LiveALive back in the #SNES days since it didn't make it to the USA. I started playing it on my #anbernic the other day and I was surprised to find it very #chronotrigger like!
I just learned they made a #remastered version last year! It seems pretty different, but since I didn't play it much on #superNintendo it doesn't matter to me. I like the voice acting, the additional animations, and lighting effects!
@cliffwade well. It's me in a 48x48 grid, because #ChronoTrigger uses such a grid for its portraits. But I still don't even try to mimic the style of the game so the grid is enough for now
#ChronoTrigger#snes#retrogame
I was today years old when I found out human Glenn has a whole ass sprite sheet. like, not combat but about as many sprites as Schala has... All for like 2 seconds in one ending that you only get under very specific circumstances, I'm shook. I guess that was AAA quality for 1995 😂
p.s. he's....... very hot. Forget the anime cutscene version I want to see the original art for this long flowing hair ponytail guy
Edit: omfg, I checked, he has TWICE as many sprites as Schala!? #ChronoTrigger
