🧵 (1/2) TODAY IS THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF MY MOTHER'S DEATH.
She was told she had "Stage 3 malignant #cancer" and given #Chemo. Her doctor didn't do ANY follow-up between treatments, which resulted in severe pneumonia and being rushed to the hospital.
The hospital screwed up, resulting in a collapsed lung after only 1 week.
3 days after that, she went into Cardiac Arrest. The collapsed lung hindered #CPR and left her a vegetable for 9 months.
🚑Refreshing my EMT-B license isn't just a personal milestone, it's a renewed commitment to serving my community. Staying up-to-date ensures I can deliver the best possible care, anytime, anywhere.
"'LifeSaveHer is a company developed by MIT and Harvard undergraduate students, who are also EMTs and CPR instructors, to create female manikin covers that address gender disparities in CPR training.
Research from the National Institute of Health shows that women are less likely than men to receive bystander CPR."
CPR published reports on air pollution, funded protests and legal battles against projects such as coal mines, government source says
The Centre for Policy Research said the Ministry’s decision was incomprehensible and disproportionate, and some of the reasons provided challenged the very basis of the functioning of a research institution.

I looked for, but couldn't find, what percentage of the ownership of CPKC is Canadian. It's not a given that CPR was majority Canadian-owned prior to buying KCS.
The argument in favour of breaking up the old vertically-integrated CP was that, as a conglomerate, management was trying to work with too many different business lines, and probably managing most of them poorly. I remember the share price jumped up when the split was announced.
▪️9 in 10 people who have cardiac arrest outside the hospital die. But CPR can help increase odds. If it is performed in the first few minutes of cardiac arrest, CPR can double or triple a person’s chance of survival
▪️Many people who survive a cardiac emergency are helped by a bystander.
