I’ve been running 38mm Panaracer GravelKing tires tubeless on my Soma Stanyan for years, but the front tire I just put on has enough wobble to rub in one spot on every rotation. (The wheel itself is true.)
Two shops told me that the tire wasn’t seated right, but I checked and remounted multiple times and it’s seating fine. Even used some rubbing alcohol to lubricate the tire where it seated, but it always mounts up perfectly fine. The tire is the problem.
The second shop gave the real answer after chatting with the folks there for a bit: I should go down a size. It’s a real bummer, but even the Soma website says it can do up to 35mm. :blobfoxsad:
The only other realistic alternative is a new frameset, or at least a new fork, but that will have to wait for a while. :blobfoxgooglycry:
'However, figures published this week show injuries on the roads fell by a third in the final quarter of last year compared to the same period a year earlier. After a review, the Welsh government agreed to more 30mph exemptions but insisted that most roads should remain at 20mph.’
The hysteria about 20mph was just that - rabble rousing based on no attention to the details. That included Times reporting.
Wednesday:
102 seconds of plank
23.3 KM of #Cycling (24°C, Humidex of 30°C)
11 minutes of yoga for runners
30 minutes of HIIT
20 minutes of strength training
Another day of doing the outside portion of my workout first to try and avoid the heat.
Getting home hot and sweaty then having to workout more is not very appealing. 🤔
Need to start building an underground city covered in parkland. Anyone have a spare billion sitting around?
Something I'm really proud of is that I once built a (this) bike from scratch. What that now means is that I have the skills and (more importantly) the tools to confidently strip a bike back, clean it and re-build it.
100 years ago #OnThisDay, 3 Jun 1924, Alfonsina Strada crosses the finish line of the Giro d'Italia. She remains the only woman to have officially ridden in a Grand Tour.
At one point she had been disqualified on time grounds but was allowed to continue without the option of prizes. She finished ahead of the lantern rouge (the last cyclist to finish).
I’ve ended the day serving as a bike mechanic…🤷🏻♂️ We decided to swap the bars with his older (size smaller) bike, because the new one is slightly too big for him, measuring freakishly wide 700mm…
He’s 7 and the bike is designed for kids age 8-11. Previously I replaced the tires so it’s now lower to the ground and shoved the saddle all the way to the front…😂
I’m always a little conflicted about riding my mountain bike on the road to get to the mountain bike trails. It’s mainly that it always feels so slow compared to my road or cyclocross bikes. However, riding to the trail only adds about 6 minutes versus driving there, which means more riding time overall, which is good. 🤷♂️
Among the many benefits of shaving your legs as a cyclist, it gives ticks a lot less to grab ahold of to hitch a ride.
A number of the less-wooded areas of the mountain bike trail had tall weeds and grass leaning in right at leg level, and ticks are definitely common here.
