I'm using so many clients lol

on my phone I'm using

on my laptop I'm using

on my desktop I'm using and

why, why, why does Fractal have no way to receive notifications in the background? I'm stuck using Chatty for notifications and Fractal for actual use

conversely, what's up with images in Chatty? they almost never load from Matrix accounts

Nice to know FINALLY did this, but it’s far too late for me. Moved on to better long ago. https://433.world/@Yuvalne/111945754181195561

@cyrus as for clients I found a pain, especially with multiple accounts. Notifications were especially problematic. I’ve been using .

I believe I earned some play time.

FluffyChat MatrixRTC support!

neo, to Matrix

The more I use the more I yearn for .
The amount of resources a Matrix home server consumes is pretty insane too.
I also have this annoying bug / behavior with any Matrix client ( iOS and desktop, ) where the chat view randomly jumps around while you’re reading a backlog. It kinda sucks.

I’m beginning to try Olvid messenger as a replacement for Telegram and others.

  • Symmetric encryption
  • No servers
  • No accounts
  • No passwords
  • No phone numbers
  • All chats are implicitly private
  • Open source
  • Freemium pricing model.

https://olvid.io/

PM me an invitation or request an invite from me.

btaroli,
@btaroli@federate.social avatar

@kubikpixel i tried element but it didn’t last. FluffyChat has been my favorite for now. Multiple profiles and notifications are my favorite functions.

But the thing that draws me to Olvid — if it is confirmed — is that it offers client to client direct comms, like Telegram private chat.

Will check out hose links! Thx

@Pixelle What are some apps you like to use on or ?

What do people get out of using or that @matrix (and apps that interface with it) doesn't provide? The decentralized web should be able to win this fight.

Also, I wonder how many people are happy with and maybe then aren't interested in (or even aware of) what's now possible. I love using for calls on my show.

marqle,

@job @wjmaggos

I would question one thing you said though. I don't know of any decent clients on They were all awful when I tried them.

In fairness, that's only marginally better with but works far better than any ios xmpp app that I found

i've tried , and for

i actually prefer element. feels weird to prefer the most common thing for once.

i think it's most common, isn't it?

so my goal with sup. is to make a federated snapchat/whatsapp that is compatible with most platforms.

This was originally going to be a Pixelfed specific Messenger-like app, but then it hit me - this is a perfect opportunity to create a sub project that could be eventually handed over to a trusted org.

Nikokin,

@dansup checkout this abandoned matrix-spec-change for "encrypted stories". I believe it's implemented in . Not sure why it was abandoned. I'd love if this was in all clients https://github.com/matrix-org/matrix-spec-proposals/pull/3588

Is there not a functional app for that does not completely suck? hangs a lot before it updates chats at all, same for but not as long and not as frequent. is over simplified and doesn't seem to have a way to have unread chats be on top, nor is there any jump to last read spot. Other clients don't have spaces, so they are already eliminated. Is there no other option?

Natureshadow, (edited ) to random

today announced that they migrated to .

Seriously… I know it is hard to . But migrating somewhere, and then, in 2023, moving into that shithole? Having resources to do the work of moving somewhere, and then moving to the worst place you can get in that valuable time?

It might be only me, but really, what's on these people's minds?

pavot, to random

is so good, but that name.. Every time I recommend it, the response I get is "what is that like a chat for furries?"

@ChrisWere Do you think it's the protocol that makes it feel this way or the client UX?

🤦‍♂️ Great. is acting super slow when loading a new room. I wonder if there's a way I could troubleshoot it quickly because I need to get in contact with support to discuss bugs I found.
