Shafer makes a good point about Chuck Todd having had no problem inviting Ronna McDaniel onto his show as an unpaid guest but he never mentions the act that she participated in an attempted coup.

He offers a long list of other politicos who have had such gigs as if there were little difference.

According to this, ABC and possibly CNN--it's not entirely clear--were also trying to land this insurrectionist to be a pundit.

Here's USA Today both-sidesing an insurrection.

Kristen Welker replying to Elise Stefanik calling convicts “political hostages” by noting that Dems have been prosecuted too is just pathetic. A good journo would’ve had the number charged with assaulting cops (452) at hand and asked how you can be pro-cop and pro-law and order and say that shit?

The correct response to ‘we should let the people decide’ is, ‘oh, so you favor abolishing the Electoral College?’ And when they say ‘that’s just how our Constitutional system works’ you tell ‘em ‘so is barring insurrectionists from office.’

Once past the headline on this, you have to dig through 10 graphs about how GOPers have come to embrace RW propaganda about Jan 6 before learning that 55% of respondents overall say it was “an attack on democracy that should never be forgotten,” 56% think committed crimes and 46% think he should be disqualified.

The maddening thing about 'let the people decide' is lost the popular vote by a 2.9 mil margin in '16 and then attempted a coup when he lost by 7 mil 4 yrs later. His party lost every year in between. The people have decided repeatedly and there's no guarantee we wouldn't have a repeat of '16.

The chutzpah of right-wingers squealing about how prosecutions and attempts to Constitutionally disqualify are “unprecedented” efforts to “interfere in the election” when they’re responses to his unprecedented coup attempt is really kinda impressive. Of course he put us in uncharted waters. Of course his actions threatened to tear the country apart.

Fascinating nugget in this one. MI GOP Chair Laura Cox drafted text saying the fake electors would only represent Trump if a Court found he'd won. But Cox, who'd been on the campaign trail maskless, says she got covid from Rudy and the campaign pushed ahead without it. And now they all face charges.

When the Spanish Civil War broke out, Hitler and Mussolini went all-in backing Franco’s Nationalists but the big democratic powers, England and France, offered the democratically elected Republicans tepid support because they were wary of socialists and trade unionists being part of the coalition.

Their half-hearted defense of democracy emboldened the fascists and contributed to the outbreak of WWII.

Anyway, I think about this whenever I encounter anti-anti-Trump liberals.

and RNC chief Ronna McDaniel could have been charged with bribery for offering to cover lawyers’ fees for two Michigan election officials if they refused to certify the vote.

We should always keep in mind that 7 GOP senators voted to convict Trump, making it the most bipartisan effort in history, and if 10 more had had the courage to join them we wouldn’t be going through all of this shit. McConnell alone probably could have achieved that.

The fact that they're wringing their hands over the CO ruling possibly helping Trump in the primaries when he's leading his closest rival by 51 POINTS in RCP's average just speaks to the press's insatiable need to shoehorn everything into the horse race even if they need to invent one.
