Right. Help an ignoramus out. What’s the difference between Lemmy and Kbin? I’m using #Memmy for #Lemmy, and now #Artemis for #kbin. Load them up and lo and behold they show exactly the same posts? I was expecting completely different federated “galaxies”. Do I just.. use a single app now? I thought the services were different but hell, I’ve been plenty misguided in the past..
I’ve posted this defect to #Memmy twice if not thrice, and now I see #Artemis doing it too. How hard is it to just use line-height: auto; or at least make it user configurable. Completely triggers me.
Great that the apps are free but good god, bring on the competitors. I’m glad as hell that Reddit and Apollo still work. You heard me - Apollo still works, long as your phone is jailbroken. #monaapp is still the gold standard with fedi-apps, hoping other apps will get just as polished one day.
Yet another #Memmy release where they haven’t fixed the line height for titles despite me asking multiple times about it. Pity there aren’t any workable alternatives.
I wonder how many requests to the #Memmy developer for fixing the line height for post titles it will take before the line height for post titles is actually fixed.
I was using #Thunder as my main app, but I’ve moved over to #Memmy now as it’s seen a lot of improvements very quickly! Definitely a viable for everyday use!
If anyone is looking for a good iOS app for Lemmy, I highly recommend the new Memmy app that got released this week and keeps getting better.
The dev team is cranking out improvements on beta on a daily basis and is super responsive to feedback on both GitHub and the Memmy community. I’ve really enjoyed seeing this app come to fruition over the past few weeks
If you were excited about the new #Memmy app for #lemmy on iOS only to feel let down by their privacy details, don’t slam that door shut just yet. Here’s what the developer has to say about it: https://lemmy.ml/comment/1286875
TLDR; device ID is needed for notifications and is only ever used if they’re enabled.
If you’re running out of patience for an iOS Lemmy client, in the meantime you can save your Lemmy instance as a bookmark on your Home Screen and it’ll function sort of like a proper app.
The #Lemmy client #Memmy still lacks #Android builds because the goal is to get in the Play Store right away but I don't think that's the best approach. I opened a issue (enhancement) on Github to hopefully motivate the dev to make his own F-Droid repo or work with the #FDroid team or IzzyOnAndroid to deliver updates fast enough. If one of you has experience with F-Droid repos please check the issue and add your thoughts and knowledge because I dont! https://github.com/gkasdorf/memmy/issues/318
Use the mobile client's search feature (memmy has this but your client may not) or your instances native search capability to find and subscribe to all the communities you've found from the step above. Note: you should have no issue subbing to Lemmy OR Kbin communities (/magazines)
Yes! You can sub to communities on other instances from your own. By doing so, you can build an aggregate feed of all your subbed communities and boom! The worry of fractured communities can be (partially imo) mitigated.
Scroll to your heart's content, comment on things, upvote, etc... It's VERY similar imo to my old Reddit browsing process. But with all the fun of exploring an entirely new space. I'm loving the novelty of it all and actually finding some great stuff that's out there!
Yes, there is still lots of work to be done with this software and there's no telling whether these communities will thrive into the future, but I for one am excited about the prospects and will be putting my time into it.
@steve This looks absolutely amazing! I’ve been using #Memmy and I honestly don’t really like it too much, completely personally preference. No hate to anyone there.
