Many #VideoGames trivialize the effects of #GunViolence, effectively using them to play tag.
I think if they instead used their modern capabilities for realism to show the effects of gunshot wounds and the agony they cause as people suffer and slowly die from them (instead of just popping off instantly and cleanly), players might soon loose interest in using guns in video games.
Of course, that's what the makers of video games don't want, so we're kinda stuck with the status quo.
I will give some credit to my colleagues at #IguanaEntertainment , who both introduced sideways strafing (in #Turok ) and got creative when the creators of #SouthPark , in the wake of the shooting at Columbine (where they went to high school) said the game (a first-person shooter using the Turok engine) couldn't include guns.
Had a crazy idea to support tls-alpn for #apache. I think I can make it work by setting up a #caddyserver container but map 443 to a high local port, then proxy all .acme_challenge to caddy, and have the same domains listed in caddy with the generated certs volume-mounted to the location that apache is set up to read, then using inotify to restart apache on change to those cert files.
@vwbusguy That a company can just restrict whatever port they see fit sounds very dark.
The U.S. is shown as so much about "freedom" from outside of the U.S., this sounds like the opposite.
Thanks for explaining.
I guess the joke about cable companies in #southpark wasn't so far off.
An essay on the socio-political commentary in Avenue Q, South Park and The Book of Mormon, and how the times have changed since these shows have premiered....
Great piece on how the world has changed, but South Park hasn’t:
Cartoonist Charlie "Spike" Trotman once quipped that "The worst thing about nerds who become bullies is that you'll never convince them that they're anything but victims."
"The "South Park AI" research project... exploring the potential of artificial intelligence, voice synthesis, and deep learning technologies to recreate the images and voices of "South Park". "
Yup. Someone tried to create a South Park episode and it worked. Forget copyright and all that - are you comfortable with a superior intelligence learning from South Park? Are you, Kenny? There is a more serious side to this story in light of the writer and performer strikes and the whole idea of how to enforce copyright in an age of AI. What are the most outrageous/stupid plot lines of the show?
I would go with Man Bear Pig....
