A top-10 ISV has asked if Flathub can provide how many installs of their app are coming from Steam Deck users.
Today, we can’t—we’d need a change in Flatpak itself to add the OS name/version to the user-agent sent along with install/update transactions. The best we may be able to do today is see the exact versions of OSTree and Flatpak that are included in SteamOS, check if those are relatively unique, and provide a rough estimate based on that.
I bought a refurbished steam deck finally and am thinking about what my ahem acquisition workflow will be. This is what I'm thinking from my past experience daily driving Linux (arch btw):...
Got all excited to put #SteamOS on my mini PC today using Holo ISO. But my tiny tech box only has a single M.2 slot and I don’t want to play with the partitions. Decided to install a 2.5” SATA III drive with this itty bitty connector, included with the PC.
Completed the “surgery” only to find out the interface supports traditional, mechanical drives, not SSDs. 🙄 PC never sees the drive.
Can confirm the /nix directory exists and the single-user nix installer is functioning fine after chowning the /nix directory. Here's fastfetch 😊 #steamos#steamdeck#linuxgaming#nix
I'd LOVE for this to be a growing trend in 2024 and years to come so SteamOS users and #SteamDeck fans could have more options in form factors and performance targets from their handhelds.
#SteamDeck is the first #Valve hardware I own, second being the Steam Deck Dock. I finally know what #Apple shills feel like cos I’m now the same with Valve and I 100% want and need more hw products from them. Whatever they cook in the future, I hope it’ll include a #SteamOS laptop (they’ve included great speakers, mic, and amazing haptic/“fake” touchpads on the Steam Deck, I need em in a laptop), a SteamOS “console” box perhaps, and a #gaming controller as good as the built-in ones on the Deck. The cherry on top would be them selling these hardware at a low margin or even loss like they did with the Deck, to keep them affordable with the hopes of enticing more people into the #Steam ecosystem like they’ve successfully done with me.
Experimenting further into this forsaken #SteamDeck bug of non-#steam apps either not being able to exit properly or #SteamOS simply not recognising that they've exited. Each of them were, twice, opened n exited to see how many would behave right "reliably" (spoiler: 0 🥳).
This new Dock by @jsaux? Despite some minor flaws, it might be their best product yet. It turns out to be the best :steamdeck: Steam Deck Dock on the market right now, offering HDMI 2.1, DP 1.4, VRR, and ALLM. Using it for my MBP as daily driver now, which tells you something. 👀
I want to write a blog post or something documenting how using Flathub on Steam Deck desktop looks and works, but I don’t have a Steam Deck. Sounds like I just justified buying one!
Dear Steam deck pirates, what's your current setup?
