Finally, someone understands the value of requiring someone to pay "SOMETHING", in order to alleviate #Spam and hold people posting their thoughts accountable as the individuals that have done so.
It's a proven concept by the #Stellar Foundation that has proven that even some pittance of monetary consideration breaks Spam because Spammers follow the path of least resistance (zero cost).
Everything is better when it's cooked in an #Iron_skillet.
I baked a few cakes in that oven, which is a real challenge - adjusting the type and amount of wood in the firebox as well as the redirect of the heat to the oven box.
It takes constant attention. The first cake, I had to cut out the center, which wasn't done, like a bundt cake.
There's a new kid on the block - and there's no punches being pulled here either - I would love if some of the folks could weigh in here with their thoughts about the developer's observations...
Jake Edward Brown, AKA Thomas Tracy Burum, died in 2003.
He was 36 years old when he murdered Teri Lynn Hollis on Thanksgiving Day 1972.
He got away with #murder and wasn't identified until 11 September 2019.
Teri and I were the same age, 11 years old. she was my neighbor, abducted from my neighborhood, raped, strangled, and her body was discovered the next day, dumped on the rocks at the beach.
My parents put me on lockdown after that, and it has haunted me my entire life.
8 years ago today (yesterday, actually), 20 September, 2015, when I was a contract engineering mgr for GoDaddy in #Culver_City - a company they had just acquired in the process of an #IPO.
I'm not quite sure how that all works, but everytime I get in the middle of one of those, all the C-Level folks and those who hired me disappear a few days later, buy #yachts and #islands, and I end up being one of the big bosses working for bunch of people I never meet, lolz.
I made the mistake of originally publishing this photo at http://www.viewbug.com/photo/5280904 back in December, 2013 - don't do that! Viewbug kinda really sucks and you can't even download your own photos. Here's the specs I have on this:
From, "The Piggy Opera", Concordia Elementary School, San Clemente, California.
The tell tale signs of a child who still sucks her thumb is apparent in this portrait of a girl with a starring role in a school play.
KODAK DC4800 ZOOM DIGITAL CAMERA
Aperture f/4.5 Shutter 1/250
We didn't really have a #Fediverse back then, although we did have a few platforms that still exist and are the major parts of the Fediverse today, such as #Friendica (had a couple of name changes since then), StatusNet/PumpIO, etc., but none of that is really important.
This is the first photo of a series - I'm prolly going to try out "collections" and make this part of one. I still have a bad taste left in my mouth from the #gplus days when they launched collections, but I digress.
The Piggy Opera was her first grade school play, and from an age of innocence that eventually evolves into some awareness on the childs part that I think most parents loathe - we always wish for them to remain the "Itty Bitty Baby" that we carried everywhere on one arm; and this was in the last months of when she was still light enough for me to carry her everywhere.
I've seen this on four social networks in the #Fediverse now in just over a week - #ActivityPub, #ZOT, #nostr, and #Movim/XMPP. These memes are going around, but what about those privacy disrespecting, deprecated legacy silos like #Faceplant, #Twitter, and #InstaSPAM or #Reddit - Why is it that we're preaching to the choir instead of to the sinners of the #SunnyVale_Syndrome?
Go forth, save those poor souls over on the silos, Tell them that they're pork bellies. Muahahaha!
#Evacuation day - orders were actually issued two days beforehand but I was only alerted about an hour before taking this pic and others.
My truck is fire engine red, and as such it was almost invisible. You can see that inside my cabin the air is clear (through the window), while outside the air is the color of Satan.
The #August_Complex was swift and deadly, destroying most everything in its path.
I opened the chicken coop and bade them good luck & farewell forever
Just now, the day after Hilary Satan came through.
I read that they evacuated everyone way out in #Salton_Sea yesterday, not that anyone can stand living there anymore, but does that mean it got filled up with water again?
I drove past it over twenty five years ago on my way to #Yuma and it stank like shit back then, lolz.
I dunno if these are poodles crossed with labrador retrievers, some white, some chocolate labs, or Airedales.
The sight of 8 big dogs of this size just jumping into a tiny hatchback sedan (one in the front passenger seat) from a single command by their owner leaving the wholesale commercial grocery outlet in Arcata California.
Their level of obedience, organized discipline, from roaming the parking lot to this astounding shot - Priceless!
My "mean and ornery" rooster. I punted him several times cuz he's just didn't learn and always tried to flog me.
Last thing I said to him and the other chickens before the fires of the August Complex incinerated everything shortly after I evacuated the mountain with my cat and whatever I could load into my truck was...
I've been seeing this question come up time and again over the past several years, and it's understandable when you consider that often, the people asking it come from the deprecated, legacy silo space.
"When I follow someone, why don't I see their older posts?" - or some variant of that.
For example, when you follow someone on Faceplant, you see everything going back historically; because it's a silo. One theoretical host (server) with a centralized database that everyone using that host/service has in common.
When you follow someone in the #Fediverse, you begin to see their posts in your timeline/feed moving forward from the point in time that you follow them, because we're talking about the database local to the Fediverse server instance where your account is.
Okay kiddies, let's be real careful with this - again, Be really mindful, and especially careful here. You can accidentally DoS your box very easily if you're not, but here's a useful tool for those occasions where you want a history you might not normally have:
No, it really bothers me. And it's so clandestine and leaves me with the distinct impression there is obfuscation delivered as authoritatively masquerading misinformation.
So I swapped out the first word of each sentence to clarify what those fuckers are actually saying, while pretending to say it isn't that way. Fuckin' bitches.
The first word in each sentence used to be "Allow" and "Offer", respectively.
Now a more accurate, straight forward, and honest edit follows:
Compel web servers to evaluate the authenticity of the device and honest representation of the software stack and the traffic from the device.
Enforce an adversarially robust and long-term sustainable anti-abuse solution.
I encourage prettier to give this this a quick read - it isn't difficult to comprehend what's really being said here and what the grand design is.
I'll comment further on this discussion as to how I perceived this upon initially being alerted to it by @ariadne over at @Fediverse:matrix.org but suffice it to say this is but a particularly #FOSS, #Privacy_Respecting, or #DeSoc friendly campaign.
The big news here isn't the headline, it's what's buried in the article itself - an article that links and clings to non #Fediverse, deprecated silo resources like Twitter to pad the results of cooperative studies between these two universities.
Of particular note is an apparent broken promise to #open_source the technology on one hand, and the infinite power that #FOSS can play when millions of eyes are on the prize with cooperative development.
