Woot got Ice Cubes compiling and running on the #VisionPro.
I love Ivory, I just can’t help make it better. Am going to use this as a learning tool for SwiftUI and performance, as the scrolling hitches quite a bit on the Vision Pro only.
There’s a new way to browse Apple’s App Store for its Apple Vision Pro. On Apple’s website, you can now find a dedicated “App Store for Apple Vision Pro” page with all the details about visionOS apps. 9to5mac has more: https://flip.it/Q7R53r #Tech#Technology#Apple#AppStore#VisionPro
Once they had scanned my glasses, about 5 minutes later, someone brought out a tray with MY Vision Pro setup (complete with a cushion designed for my noggin, and lenses for my eyes).
They placed the tray (see pic) on a board on an end-table. VERY elegant.
When I checked in for my Apple Vision Pro demo last night, one of the first things they did was ask for my glasses.
The Apple Store demoist took them over to the machine shown below and they scanned my glasses so they could pull the proper lens inserts from inventory.
@davemark WarnerCrocker@mastodon.social On the "all diehard Apple fans will all own a Vision Pro eventually". As an Apple fan with an Apple office and household, with technology I always ask the question, "why do I need this?".
iPod, the answer was that I could take all of my music with me on travel - that was good.
cell phone, it would be good in emergencies.
smart phone, now there's access to the internet and more information
iWatch, no need to carry a cell phone for calls and texting.
As the versions evolved capabilities got better and new features were added. All good.
On the Vision Pro, clearly one can see obvious potential benefits for specific uses, such as training and maintenance. But outside of specific use cases, Apple fans like me are asking, why do I need this?
Like much of technology, there will probably be some set of features that answers the question of need, and, that overcomes the hefty purchase price and the inconvenience of wearing the device. I'm open.
What does "privacy" mean when you have half a dozen cameras or sensors strapped to your face?
It's a tough question, and one that honestly, is just starting to be understood. I spoke with privacy experts Maritza Johnson and Mike Godwin for their perspective on whether we can trust tech companies with the data AR/VR headsets like the Apple Vision Pro and Meta Quest suck in.
After a few weeks of waiting, finally got my exchange of an 11W light shield to replace the original 21W
The consequence is a complete change to the physics of how #VisionPro sits on the face. I can wear it comfortably indefinitely now, whereas before there was a firm upper limit of around 40 minutes.
My hunch is that they ran out of 11W inventory and started substituting the "next best” option
In any case, what a hard problem. The balance is EVERYTHING to make this weight bearable.
I started feeling irresponsible for buying a Mac mini I probably could live without. ( I got for 130 after gift cards) But then I remember a whole bunch of people bought the 3000 dollar Apple Vision Pro for some reason. And I feel slightly less ridiculous #apple#mac#visionpro
I just launched a new #AppleVisionPro application! Lettore Music is a compact music player utility for Apple Music that allows you to place it above or below any window on Apple Vision Pro allowing quick access to your music. I have a lot of upcoming features planned so stay tuned. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/lettore-music/id6478786897
For #visionOS developers: As we approach first software update for #visionPro I want to add support for visionOS „Device Support" files in #DevCleaner - anyone could confirm me what is the format of the folder that contains them, if you can just DM me (or send via e-mail, contents of this folder if you ever used Vision Pro for development: ~/Library/Developer/Xcode/visionOS DeviceSupport
“It took me several days of use to be fully convinced that Vision Pro delivered an exceptional new level of unique immersive entertainment, as well as a completely new way of working with creative and productivity apps. It is still incrementally sinking in — and impressing me on new levels — how profoundly Vision Pro's immersive and interactive visuals adapt our way of thinking about ideas in a natural, immersively visual and directly interactive way.” #visionpro https://mastodon.social/@appleinsider/112038249491501321
