If you hear stories about #JohnMastodon, they're not real-- well, maybe not.😏
Just remember: There is no algorithm here for people who do not follow you to find you. The best way to have your toots seen is by using lots of hashtags (like these👇👇👇 ).

Willkommen an alle hier eingetroffenen Migranten von Twitter. Hier findet ihr jede Menge freundliche Menschen die Euch gerne mit Rat und Tat zur Seite stehen wenn ihr Fragen habt.
Welcome to all the migrants from Twitter who have arrived here. Here you will find a lot of friendly people who will be happy to help you if you have any questions.
Ok. I gotta tap out for a bit. I am overstimulated, from frickin JOY, for crying out loud. The vibe here today is eyes wide wowzers.
The last few #twitterMigration have felt like people crashing in on fire rolling and cursing, needed a pat down and a cold drink from greeting mastodonians.
The vibe this round is more like everybody bursting through the kool-aid wall while everybody cheers and says FUCK YEAH YA MADE IT!
For all new (and "new" users), if you don't like the default Mastodon user interface, you don't need an app, there are web-based alternatives, here are a few I've been using…
Quick round of hopefully helpful notes for newcomers.
There's no algorithm here , so to help posts get seen you need to use the Boost button , this is Mastodon's equivalent of retweet. It is FAR more important than the like button in terms of giving a post outreach.
The like button is for notifiying someone that you liked the post and puts the post in the favourites section, only you may view your favourites. As said before there's no algorithm , so if you want a post to get seen by others press the boost button too!
Bookmarks are basically same as likes but they are private , no notification is made for these. They are in the Bookmarks section, only you may view your own bookmarks. Use this for keeping posts with helpful information on hand.
Also make extensive use of hashtags in posts order to be found in the search. You can also follow hashtags as well as users!
Boy, nothing says welcome to mastodon like a bunch of accounts announcing you’ll be gone in a minute, scolding you for taking so long to leave Twitter, or pretending there’s nothing frustrating about signing up to a place that has different rules than you’re used to.
Cut the new arrivals some slack, people.
New folk, you’re very welcome. Most of us are kind and friendly. You’ll get the hang of it! #Welcome#WelcomeToMastodon

Sheepish request I'm new to Mastodon, but a lot of my former Twitter followers don't know I'm here yet. Someone suggested I could simply ask you fine people to boost me. Would you be so kind? (I promise to post a photo of my dog to say thanks). #WelcomeToMastodon
