I guarantee you every single one of you relies on software that has more than a million users and makes $0, somewhere in your tech stack.
Having a single app like that in your portfolio, even if you have robust paid apps, could be enough to bankrupt you under Apple's CTF proposal
@stroughtonsmith Then they would be better off staying in the App Store under the current existing terms, which is exactly what Apple wants. I get what you are trying to say, but a law-abiding and non-controversial app like mastodon perhaps doesnโt illustrate your case that well.

@ivory Nope, itโs different. I am getting served different content, including dick pics of naked men. Itโs like a compilation of popular / whatโs tending posts. Some of which I follow, most of which I dont. Have tried the various options, none seem to be replicating my feed as I know it.

How I know Twitter was great. When something was going on anywhere, any kind of thing, I'd go to Twitter and it happened there 14 minutes ago. It was the pulse of the news. And somehow they couldn't figure out how to make a business of that! Amazing.

Nonsense; Apple's Messages app already has an unencrypted pathway โ using SMS. And unencrypted RCS, as of next year. A bridge to a competing service could also be unencrypted in the same form. If you really need to message somebody not using an encrypted service, you should get a warning in the app, but it should still be possible. It will be possible, and unencrypted, if other services interoperate with RCS directly

Spitball idea for iOS: When doing a screen recording, automatically turn on Do Not Disturb for the duration of the recording.
So many times when Iโm recording my screen, say, to have a video to send a developer with a bug report, the recording gets ruined by an incoming notification.
@gruber And turn on microphone. A few times already, I have done entire screencasts, only to realise the microphone was off by default and no audio was captured. ๐ตโ๐ซ
