"The House that Art Built” is a historic showcase in San Francisco.

In addition to the exhibition, which features 11 artists associated with the Oakland-based nonprofit Creative Growth, SFMOMA has also permanently acquired more than 100 works created by artists with developmental disabilities.

French photographer Juliette Pavy is the overall winner of the annual Sony World Photography Awards for her documentary project about the sterilization of women in Greenland, and will receive a cash prize of $25,000. Gene Herrick, the Associated Press photographer who took iconic pictures of Martin Luther King Jr. and Rosa Parks, and covered the Korean War and the trial of the killers of Emmett Till, died last week at age 97. He started at the AP aged 16 in Columbus, Ohio, as an office assistant, and retired in 1972. Here's the agency's tribute to him.

Faith Ringgold died on April 13 at age 93. The artist and author was best known for her "story quilts," which have been exhibited in museums around the world and told the stories of Black people. Some of her best known works include "Who's Afraid of Aunt Jemima?" and "Tar Beach," which she later adapted into a children's book— she went on to write a dozen more books for kids. Here's a tribute to her from Smithsonian magazine.

Getty's CEO, Craig Peters, talked to the Hollywood Reporter about why he thinks this could be beneficial to creators, how the material created by this system will be labeled, copyright systems, and who gets paid.

Workers at the Creative Growth Art Center, a non-profit in Oakland, California that supports artists with disabilities, are forming a union. The Art Newspaper reports that the move was motivated by concerns over hiring practices, wages and benefits, an over-reliance on volunteer labor, and poor treatment of staff with disabilities. An employee of the Pinakothek der Moderne, one of Germany's largest and most prestigious contemporary art galleries, has been fired for hanging one of his own paintings in the space. The 51-year-old technical services team member also has to worry about a police investigation, as Munich authorities are investigating him for damage to property because of the two holes he drilled in a wall.
