Jedes Mal wenn man sich ums Kind kümmert, checkt man sich an und die Zeit wird auf die Rente angerechnet.

Okay, it's not just me. 🐧

My workmate, a long time Windows-only developer and gamer just complained about Windows 11 to me and asked for advice regarding Linux.

With everything I have seen this year, I do believe that there is an increased interest in the Linux desktop and we will see an incresing amount of gaming systems convert to Linux.

But, let's be realistic. I predict that over the course of 2024, the desktop Linux market share will grow from 3% to 4%.

I found that missing hardware support is still a huge hurdle. My brother for example would love to switch to Linux but as he does some streaming and YouTube content creation he needs his internal hdmi capture card, which is unfortunately not supported at all.
And that is the case for every consumer hdmi capture device out there, so he can't even get another one. Sure he could get a Blackmagic device, but those are really expensive.

Das B in BCC hat schon seinen Grund, der ganze Zweck von BCC ist das die einzelnen Empfänger nicht die anderen einsehen können.

Daher: Nein, weil geht technisch nicht.

    Beruflich arbeite ich viel mit und & auf Servern und das sind solide Distributionen die man durchaus empfehlen kann, wie gut die sich auf dem Desktop schlagen kann ich aber nicht beurteilen.

    Persönlich bevorzuge ich inzwischen , davor war ich ein Gentoo Fan. ist super und die Flexibilität der USE-flags wohl überreicht aber das ganze Kompilieren nahm einfach zu viel Zeit in Anspruch, daher bin ich weg von Gentoo. 1/2

    I love nvme drives, but the alternate naming scheme they have on is terrible. Especially when you need to mount it. Gets worse when you have more than one.

    /dev/nvme01n1 or whatever is horrible. Makes me miss drive letters on Windows, not even lying.

    That is, one of, the reason why I give all my drives/partitions speaking labels.

    That way I just mount by label and can ignore the naming scheme or drive order completely.

    Einfaches Spielen funktioniert super inzwischen unter Linux, ich habe aber noch ein Windows im Dual Boot für mein gemoddetes Skyrim und Fallout 4. Das bekomme ich einfach nicht stabil unter Linux hin, all die unterschiedlichen Tools die man inzwischen so braucht beim Modding, das macht einfach nur Probleme.

    It looks like someone used the open source code and made a new total conversion game with it.

    Not saying that they did, only that I got a huge vibe.

    The game is on my wish list for sure, I would love a good new retro style C&C clone game.

    Junge, 2021 hatten hier noch alle Schiss ob wir durch den Winter kommen (!) & wie hart die Wirtschaft kollabiert. Letzten Winter dann Gaspreis niedriger als vor Ukraine-Krieg & durchgehend Wirtschaftswachstum (2021: 2,6%, 2022: 1,8%). Kommt mal klar

    Das Wirtschaftswachstum mag statistische Relevanz pro Bürger haben, aber effektiv hat es für die meisten keine Aussage.
    Real ist für extrem viele Menschen heute die Situationen deutlich schlimmer, da die meisten Gehaltssteigerungen nicht Mal die Inflation auffangen.

    Die Java Version von Minecraft gibt es immer noch und die kann man problemlos unter Linux spielen.

    Dazu kann man entweder die Java .jar Datei manuell starten oder einen der vielen Launcher nehmen.

    Es gibt sogar Möglichkeiten die Bedrock Version zu spielen, der entsprechende Launcher nutzt dafür die Android Version unter Linux.

    Windows wird für Minecraft nicht benötigt.

    I am so sick of AI related news. Why on earth people wants to replace the best parts of humanity with auto generated low quality sameness.
    The last time I saw there was no shortage of new music, paintings, writing, etc. Please use AI to improve human life not to replace it.

    It is not replacing but enabling more people to create art by describing the idea they have in their mind to the computer.
    Sure it is not on the level of a professional artist, but lightyears better then everything I could create by hand.
    So for me AI is improving my life, because it gives me possibilities and choices I didn't have before.
