I think this is a #MastodonBug. You'll get that error sometimes if you click on the preview link — but not if you click the link in the post itself. This caught me several times (usually involving links to free versions of paywalled news articles) until I learned to default to clicking the link in the post.
At least it's not 100% awful. The bill does have at least one redeeming value. Using QR codes to count ballots is just an invitation for fraud. I'm glad someone pointed this out and that someone listened, for a change. This is important. Of course, it'd be better if this took effect this year.
