Youngest just had their first job interview and is feeling really positive about it!
Oldest got his first real grownup job offer last week.
And the middle one now knows where to buy coconuts in February in eastern Connecticut. Ok!

Well, I did get the slides done, but missed the fellowship of #MakersHour. It was satisfying though, to read through a project report from a few years ago and realize even when I first started at the institute and didn’t think I knew very much, my work was right on, and subsequent legislative policy flowed from those recommendations (or at least we were all on the same page, had the same ideas, etc.)

Fisher had to go to the vet today and found it traumatic so middle child set him up with a blanket and bird TV. He’s been avidly watching for two hours! 🤦‍♀️

We have an unusual house, built in the 1950’s from plans in Better Homes and Garden. The original home, Four Bedrooms on a Budget is in Missouri, in the middle of the US, very different climatically and geologically than northeastern Connecticut. The stairs down are right in the middle of the floor, with a wooden fence around them, that Fish couldn’t get any purchase on as a kitten, so I wrapped them with rope, inadvertently turning the living room into a giant cat gym. #catsofmastodon #caturday

Bringing in the passionflower was a really great idea. Ten blooms today! Tending plants indoors in winter helps with cheerfulness. Always something to look forward to every day.

Took a walk this morning through campus past the teaching greenhouse. It was open! #JoinIn for a Boxing Day Botanical Adventure.

Will start with the #orchids.

The snow plow just went past. It’s not snowing. We’ve had over 2.5in rain in last ten hours + strong winds. School canceled and power outages around town. So many branches down, using snow plow to clear roads. Our second story windows under 6 ft eaves rain covered. Up much of the night as branches hit the roof in continual thuds. It’s 60 °F on December 18,2023 in Connecticut, US. #ClimateDiary
