I was just reminded of around twenty years ago when this guy who I knew on LiveJournal took extreme creative liberty and used the head from my LiveJournal profile pic and Photoshopped an image of me and sent it to me as a "gift" and I was just like "uhhhhhhhhhh...thank you?"

My family is notoriously difficult to shop for. We don't tend to think in terms of things, and we don't really talk about things we want.

For #MothersDay this year, I'm picking up wings from a local restaurant. Yes. This thrills my mum because she hasn't had them in years. It means no cooking that (Wednesday) night and we get to eat in.

See, if I ask her what she wants, she starts thinking in terms of the horses or the cat (or the dog, before he passed), or something for around the house. For gifts, she'd rather have an experience than an object.

So wings are the things. #HappyMothersDay!

Ouch. Another in a continuing saga of how getting old sucks. (Yes, I’m aware that in general it’s better than the alternative, but still.) I was sitting in my easy chair minding my own business, and pulled a muscle in my neck reaching up to scratch an itch on the back of my head.
