Seriously heard someone saying they don't listen to many black artists, because they aren't really into rap. Bitch please, feel free to share songs from Black artists from any genre. Here is one of my favorites, if you like this song please check out her other work:

Are there any fantasy novels that use time travel? The only ones I can think of are hidden sci-fi fantasy.

MikePalumbo,

@golgaloth

Time travel is a key plot element of Jack Vance's Dying Earth story, "The Sorcerer Pharesm," which was later incorporated into his fix-up novel, THE EYES OF THE OVERWORLD.

DARK CITY (1998)
Directed by Alex Proyas

Category : Trapped!

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0118929/

Sci-fi neo-noir with a terrifying premise - humans trapped in an inescapable city of perpetual darkness, as a dying alien race experiments, altering and erasing their memories in search of the human soul.

Veers into "action blockbuster" territory at times, but the gritty aesthetic, strong performances, and unsettling concept make for a memorable film.

THE LOST BOYS (1987)
Directed by Joel Schumacher

Category : Vampires

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093437/

A fun vampire thriller that holds a strange nostalgia for me -

  • 35 years later, I still remember being terrified of the black & white & red poster at the video store. I didn't see the film until the sequel came out in 2008.
  • I grew up near a beach-boardwalk town similar to Santa Carla, although it wasn't the "murder capital of the world."

TALES OF TERROR (1962)
Directed by Roger Corman

Category : Horror Anthology

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0056552/

Three segments, loosely adapting the works of Edgar Allan Poe. The middle segment, a mash-up of "The Black Cat" and "The Cask of Amontillado" may be my favorite Vincent Price performance - he is over-the-top in playing Fortunato as a foppish wine connoisseur, opposite Peter Lorre as a drunken Montresor.

Recently, I asked for suggestions for a platform to organize a or style group-read.

I've set up a club, Crossing Worlds, on BookClubs.com. We're dedicated to , , and - genres that take us to other worlds.

The club is open to new members. We'll be starting with A WIZARD OF EARTHSEA this weekend, before moving on to A NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER this fall.

I hope you'll join us!

I have a fantastic opportunity to read Hyperion by Dan Simmons. What wonderful treats lurk in your future? What classics are you looking forward to catching up on?

@golgaloth

This has been a year of discovering some of the classic fantasy series I overlooked in years past - notably EARTHSEA, CHRONICLES OF PRYDAIN, THE DYING EARTH, VIRCONIUM, and BOOK OF THE NEW SUN.

I’m multiple books into each and looking forward to reading the rest throughout the second half of the year.

Also looking forward to my annual re-read of Roger Zelazny’s A NIGHT IN THE LONESOME OCTOBER this fall.

The game went far harder than it had any right to.

Many of the Capcom-Disney titles were better than you'd expect media tie-in games to be; especially DUCKTALES and RESCUE RANGERS.

The Hammer FRANKENSTEIN films are my favorite horror franchise; largely based on the performance of their star, Peter Cushing, as Baron Frankenstein. Equally adept at playing the Baron as an amoral anti-hero or outright villain, he always commanded the viewer's attention.

On what would have been his 110th birthday, tell me, what is your favorite Peter Cushing film?

Hey @bookstodon friends -

With the news that the Guppe group service looks to be shutting down at the end of May, just a reminder that there's a wonderful community of folks using the and hashtags.

Hashtag functionality is built into Mastodon and other Fediverse apps, and doesn't rely on a third party service.

We'd love to hear from you!

What’s everyone reading? I’ve officially finished every Agatha Christie novel, and am looking for someone like her! Have read all the Dick Francis and Dorothy Sayers books too. Any suggestions?

Have you read the BURGLAR series by Lawrence Block? The basic plot is generally the same from one to the next - a burglar stumbles across a dead body and has to find the real killer - but they’re fun reads nonetheless.
