@ahimsa_pdx @mecfs 42 years. A naturopath dxed me 21 years in, but that was only taken seriously by a regular doctor 21 years later.

I've been trying to understand what it means that an autistic brain is bombarded with so much information. We spent some time at our summer cottage and I think I got some insight in this.

Instead of seeing the lake in front of my eyes, everywhere I looked I saw a detail. Its size would vary but it would still be a detail. A swan there, its partner there, no leaves on that tree yet, what a cool pattern on the small waves, what does it look like when I move my eyes this way, or that way, a car on the opposite shore, the shadow of the tree, I wonder what seagulls those are etc. A new detail with every single glance.

At the same time my attention tried to keep track of the dog and listened to birds singing and bumblebees flying around.

Now I wonder what it feels like just to see the lake.

Interesting. I do not see all those details, bc my brain deals with too much sound, wind, feelings, emotions. I have trouble seeing details others point out. What seagull?

My experience is more like a strong feeling while being there and seeing water in front of me.

It seems like now that it’s autism awareness month, the autism organizations asking me to give them free stim toys as “donations” in exhange for exposure is getting more frequent.

We are only on the 6th of the month and already 3 have messaged me asking for free stim toys. I’m sure there will be more this month.

Dear Fedi, alt txt is a literal description of the picture. Not "Mr Floof" but "tuxedo cat lying on green couch". A blind person does not know who Mr Floof is or what he looks like without explanation.

The intention of alt txt is that the person using a screen reader will know as much as the people without and is therefore included in the conversation.

Can he understand how lonely, tired and on edge an adult can be? This seems impossible for allistic children as well.

@actuallyautistic Can we talk self-diagnosis? The penny dropped for me last year. I'm only mildly autistic but that's enough to have made me wonder my whole life where I go wrong with social things, why others seem to know the rules and I don't, with predictable consequences. Because I am self-diagnosed I feel I can't be open with anyone beyond immediate family, esp work, as I don't have a doctor's note to back it up and I'll be accused of jumping on a bandwagon. Familiar?

Alright, friends with an eye for design... need your advice!

I'm making a handbag. Outside is very classy. Harris Tweed, leather, brass hardware.

I can't decide what lining to use.

Originally I got the dark green fern fabric for the lining.

Recently I got the lighter green with bees for another project but could repurpose (I bought lots).

I think I like that it matches the clasp. But... I think the darker fabric is more classy. And then, the lighter is more fun.

@MsHearthWitch I think colourwise the clasp matches the fern fabric better. With the tweed, it is a nice combination.

I love wool. It's my go-to fiber, especially when spinning. But not all wools are created equal. For spinning my favorite fibers are Bluefaced Leicester, Corriedale and Shetland - local fibers are hard to find.

For knitting I've reached several times for local wool from sheep that are raised in Germany, which is a bit more ... sturdy? Not extremely soft, but I like the wooly feeling. I plan to keep doing that.

Great rib stitch! I have just tried to create rib stitch with 2 ply yarn and eventually did the "stockinette, then undo rows and redo in purl stitch" method.

I could not use a smaller needle, as the yarn was too heavy. Pulling the working yarn after purling and knitting in the back loop did not create the texture I wanted.

On preferred yarn: easy yarn in natural fibre or at least 50%. I like the soft, smooth, round Regia 4 ply yarn. Alize Cotton Gold is nice, or Batik. It has some stretch and the colours are lovely.

Would love to find a lightweight yarn with silk for winter garments. My upper body does not tolerate wool anymore.

The leg warmer is Holst Garn Supersoft, the scarf is HG Coast and the cardi Regia 4 ply.

Same Licca doll as other picture, now seen from head to bottom of the dress. Same clothes. Blue eyes, bright pink lips. Hair is short. straight, and bubble gum pink with asymmetric razor cut fringe. The cardi is knit in thicker yarn with bigger stitches than the scarf.

A tangled skein and what it turned into.

A friend, who dyes and sells yarn, gave me the skein as it was completely tangled and it was unsellable because of that.

While untangling it just called "leafs" to me so leafs it turned into.

And a pattern came from it.

    Ik zie weer een hele hausse aan validistische termen voor fascisten, racisten, populisten en hun kiezers.

    Mensen, verbind kwaadaardigheid niet aan onschuldige mensen met lager IQ of psychiatrische klachten. Als je je beter voelt dan hen en lage intelligentie als scheldwoord gebruikt, doe je mee met bruinrechts.

    Het is gelukt, ik heb Edson Olf van @bij1 gestemd.

    Heel protocol gevolgd: al mijn compressiekleding aan, veiligheidsbril, FFP3. Van tevoren Algovir, naderhand zoutwaterspoeling en Algovir. FFP3 in een bak om 2 weken te laten liggen. Kleding in de was op 60 graden.

    Het was niet druk en mijn desorientatie was steeds snel verholpen (waar in het gebouw moet ik zijn, bij wie moet ik de stempas laten zien, waar krijg ik het stembiljet en hoe vouw ik dat kreng op).

    Bij het naar buiten gaan was er 1 persoon die nephoestend langsliep. Iets wat ik best heftig vind, omdat het betekent dat diegene banger is voor de realiteit dan hen compassie heeft met iemand uit de "risicogroep" zoals zij dat zien.

    Nu tintelend (na-effect compressiekleding) bijkomen. Halve liter ORS drinken, gisteren 1 liter weggeklokt.

    @Blogfeedser @bij1 Dank je, het was echt een onderneming. Het stemlokaal is wel heel dichtbij. Het voelt alsof ik er wel van ga herstellen, het is iig minder zwaar dan afval buiten weggooien.

    @ABScientist Omdat het op de korte termijn meer geld kost. Zodra je iedereen beschermt, moet je je houden aan de realiteit dat dat nodig is. Dan moeten alle scholen meteen gerenoveerd ivm schone lucht. Alle kantoren, overal HEPA. Dat is een enorme ommezwaai.

    De doden kostten toch al geld ivm oud en ziek. De effecten van LC zijn voor de langere termijn, denken ze dan. Dat lost een volgend kabinet dan maar op.

    Het zal wel gestuurd worden door de oligarchie. Die denken ook niet op de lange termijn. Waar ze straks hun personeel en afzetmarkt vandaan halen, geen idee.

    Automatisering kan een deel oplossen, maar als niemand meer kan werken en dus ook niks kan kopen...
