Happy Guilted Into Buy Flowers-And-Chocolate Day, And Maybe Stand In An Endless Line For A Horribly Crowded Brunch Day for those that celebrate!
(hint: if you truly want to celebrate your mother, do what we always did for my mom, and do the buffet the week BEFORE or the week AFTER, when the buffet is better and you don't have crowds; I also used to go to the chocolate/flower stores the DAY AFTER and had gotten flowers for 90% off and chocolates for 50-75% off... 😉
@ai6yr we were at the bookstore yesterday and the clerk was like wow this holiday man so busy- seems like we just got over Christmas. I turned to my husband - what holiday? Mother’s Day he reminded me. I looked at the pile of books we were buying. Ok why don’t you give me that one? The holiday now resembles one of those horrible McMansions, shockingly ostentatious and cheaply made. Still having both kids home for Mother’s Day is a rare treat I haven’t experienced in some time.
Funny... we had beef brisket, potatoes, onions, and carrots for dinner Sunday (we're not Jewish... but apparently there was a sale, so we went with it!) 🤔 (I had no idea until today that was a Passover thing).

@ai6yr so I am just north of the airport and boy did I hear unusual plane sounds. We were having dinner and my family told me I was behaving like the dog on July 4. That flight did its go around right overhead- I promise you - to go back to the airport. And it was a very intense little cell! Much worse than predicted…
@ai6yr I did an immersive piece on Greenland with PBS Frontline and NOVA that went to the Venice Film Festival in 2018. They NASA scientists in my piece were already yelling this from the rooftops. Ugh. But hey if you want to experience a glacier disappearing up close and you have a computer and VR goggles I have a great piece for you

@ai6yr it’s funny - I never felt “less than” watching friends appear spectacular on some awesome adventure or after a career win. But your ability to make/fix/repair bee keep and walk softly on the earth always makes me wish I could do that too.
@ai6yr I lost pretty much everything-my company was there because of Covid-computers, hard drives, lots of gear. I lost all of my personal memorabilia: videos of kids pre smartphone, diaries, negatives etc. I had pretty bad chemical inhalation burns. This was April 30 so am doing better-ish. I bought a top of line bike from Emojo. The led panel said battery was full and then four blocks away it would flash empty. I was told it was the LED panel or software and to keep it plugged in…
Male Pattern Friendship: only (or mostly) centered on showing up somewhere, and generally doesn't extend beyond that location. (work, gym, bar, social activity, hobby activity, coffee shop). Or at least, that's my experience (not being one to typically have close friends). Confirmation usually is when you stop sending emails/text/etc. to someone with relevant info regarding common interest and they never check to see if you still exist, LOL.
