Still working my way through Three-Body, the Chinese TV adaptation of The Three-Body Problem. Sometimes it gets slow but it is so much better than the Netflix version. Especially if you read the book(s).

Yes he's demented but also I LOL'd at “stanktuary” and I think there needs to be a whole series of shitposts for it.

"People need to understand dementia is a progressive illness, which means the Trump you see today is the best Trump you’re ever going to see. It’s all downhill from here. Trump’s rate of decline is accelerating, and if he’s typical, at some point, he will “fall off a cognitive cliff”"

If Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson flew a BLM flag over her home would Congress hold hearings about her impartiality?

If the Second Gentleman, Doug Emhoff, flew an upside down flag over the VP's home, would Congress hold hearings?

How do you suppose the right wing media sphere would handle such events?

Justice Samuel Alito has used flags to openly proclaim his support for a white supremacist theocratic takeover of the U.S. and it's pretty much guaranteed nothing will come of it.

It's often said that America became a full democracy after the Voting Rights Act of 1965 (Yes, Chad, I know the word "republic," if you come at me with juvenile bullshit you'll be blocked).

I was born before the U.S. became a modern democracy, and I want to live the rest of my life without the U.S. going further backward. But that's the road we're on. is working hard on taking rights away. Even if they're not your favorite in all respects, please for all Dems in November.

They were never "losers" or "suckers." They were great human beings who chose a hard path for many different reasons. They loved their country. They made sacrifices for the person on their left and right.

A person who doesn't even attempt to understand that bond should never be Commander in Chief.

The best character in besides Peralta was Doug Judy, the Pontiac Bandit.

There will be no Q&A.

@Nonya_Bidniss I read that as "Judge Judy" at first.

Clearly I need more coffee.

I'm confused as to why yesterday MSNBC had Crowdstrike & think tank guy Dmitri Alperovich (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dmitri_Alperovitch) on as a Chinese strategy expert wrt Taiwan reunification. There are hundreds of top retired DOD or State Dept personnel more qualified to discuss this topic. How did he end up in MSNBC's rotation of talking heads? Well, apparently he recently wrote a book it even though it doesn't seem to have been a top focus of his career. Wonder what I should write a book on?

neurovagrant,

@Nonya_Bidniss fwiw his book was pretty good (and there were some pertinent tie-ins with his career) but I’d read books by you even faster. Get writin’ please! 😉

Amazing. I was just listening to Jasmine Crockett on The Bulwark and she related a story of two members of Congress who'd had their student loan debt relieved and they DIDN'T KNOW WHY. They were trying to figure out what happened. And we wonder about how low-info our voters are when we have Congress members so completely uninformed about what has done?! 🤦‍♂️ 🤬 😩 p.s. someone tell Tim Miller "emigrating" is a word. Jeez. Americans aren't planning on "immigrating" from the U.S.

"More people were killed by U.S. law enforcement in 2023 than any other year in the past decade, outpacing population growth eightfold. But despite a focus on urban areas, fatal police violence is increasingly happening in small town America at the hands of sheriffs, the top law enforcement officials in counties nationwide." https://www.cbsnews.com/news/county-sheriffs-deaths-accountability/

Brings back memories. Years ago I provided input to CFIUS for the Pentagon office that I worked for. Important process. Many reporters pronounce it wrong. It's "SIF-ee-us."

This Is How You Lose the Time War by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone seems to be a popular book lately so I've been working my way through it but tbh so far it's pretty awful. I hope it gets better as I'm tempted to stop.

@Nonya_Bidniss I loved Time War, but it's definitely not for everyone. Worth seeing through, though, given how brief it is.

"Multiple phenomena are at work, but the two most important are these: First is the fact that members of the mainstream whose job it is to both inform and contextualize the nation’s politics have lost their nerve. Terrified of accusations of being “out of touch” at best and “liberally biased” at worst, they have abdicated any responsibility to render even the most fundamental judgments of what is and isn’t true when it comes to Trump."

"From...if it's coming out of a cow, yeah. Absolutely. ... The virus loves it inside that udder."

Again, don't drink raw milk, dummies! Even without influenza, there's all kinds of stuff in there that's killed off by pasteurization.
