Yes he's demented but also I LOL'd at “stanktuary” and I think there needs to be a whole series of shitposts for it.

"People need to understand dementia is a progressive illness, which means the Trump you see today is the best Trump you’re ever going to see. It’s all downhill from here. Trump’s rate of decline is accelerating, and if he’s typical, at some point, he will “fall off a cognitive cliff”"

In the near future a mass of people are going to die in a city from the heat, and the headlines will say that "it wouldn't have been so bad except the power went out"

Heat is going to take down power systems. The power systems that could protect us from an event, will be harmed by the event.

618 people in Canada, in the mountains, in the forest, died of a heat event, on the floors of their homes, on their beds. No flames. Just a days heat.
The power stayed on, it would have been worse

@kevinrns The way I read that, there are no instructions yet for how an individual would apply for whatever sort of credit each state has in their program. The states and territories have to apply for the money, which will fund state and territory programs, however each one designs it.

Nonya_Bidniss,
@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@MisuseCase Yes it would. Knowing how states behave, the federal govt surely knows that people in some states will get little to nothing while others get the benefit. @kevinrns

Nonya_Bidniss,
@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@MisuseCase All probably true, which leaves states to do as they will, so there we are. @kevinrns

How long have you been Netflix free?

@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@BlackAzizAnansi Many years, 15-20 maybe. I used to get DVDs in the mail.

@carpingdiem Are those live or dried mealworms? The bluebirds here don't have much interest in the dried ones. I've considered getting live ones.

Nonya_Bidniss,
@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@carpingdiem I keep trying them without getting many birds interested. A lot of the time they just go to waste. Maybe there's just a lot of live snacks around here for them to pick instead.

Pro tip: Before returning your rental car, make sure you delete your phone contacts and travel history from the onboard infotainment systems. The rental agency isn’t going to do it for you.

@spacerog Or, don't allow the car to download your contacts at all. That's what I do. You can still use the bluetooth to play media from your phone. Just delete your device when you turn in the car.

Will current Windows desktops be forcing us to "upgrade" to the screenshot surveillance nightmare? Or is it only new machines?

Nonya_Bidniss,
@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@_L1vY_ Mine's too old for Win11. But short answer I think up-to-date users will be forced to switch to Linux

Nonya_Bidniss,
@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@_L1vY_ If you're running Win10 it should have already been annoyingly warning you if your computer can't be updated to Win11. If you're running Win10 you're safe from Copilot and associated bullshit.

Things people say when they don't understand what fascism is. And this one I believe is actually honestly against fascism. They just don't know anything they didn't "learn" on social media or YouTube.

These people are the same ones that allowed the Brown Shirts and the Nazis to win in 1922 and 1932.

I cannot emphasize this enough.

Nonya_Bidniss,
@Nonya_Bidniss@mas.to avatar

@philip_cardella I don't really have the context for whatever that person was griping about and I hate to be this way but have you considered just blocking them and forgetting about it? (cringes) Maybe it's just me but I don't get many of those, and when I do I just block and go about my day. To me it's just not a big deal you know? (Also I had a way worse frequency of those on Twitter back in the day so maybe that's why a few here don't bother me)

Joe Biden won all of the debates he had with Trump in 2020 but somehow media people are pretending Trump is good at debating.

In reality, Trump is a crybaby narcissist who spirals into childish rage at the slightest confrontation.

He cowered from multiple debates in 2016 because he couldn't respond to tough questions. He was terrified of debating his Republican challengers in 2024. He also choked against Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Finished "Translation State" by Ann Leckie, a nominee for Best Science Fiction for Goodreads in 2023.

I came into it without having any knowledge of the Imperial Radch trilogy and it works as a standalone book. It's a bit of a space opera, a bit of a fairly predictable & angsty love story, and a bit of political intrigue. It's kind of a bit of everything and I think that's why I liked it but didn't love it. 4/5 stars.

@mlawton I was pretty much 5 stars for the Ancillary series & it made me a Leckie fan. I did enjoy Translation State but I gave it 3 stars. My 3-star category is very broad.
