Not a bad day. I managed to get the new Epyc server built and sorted out how to run containers without root, then got mobilizon (https://meetups.infosec.exchange) up and running in a container on the new server. I am 98% complete with moving video.infosec.exchange there - peertube’s config files are dramatically different between a bare metal install (what the current site uses) and a containerized version - it’s been tedious to sort everything out, but I think I’m close.
Next will be moving pixel, elk, matrix, infosec.pub, and infosec.place to it. Matrix will be next as it’s running low on disk space.
Excellent story on how #Seattle is preparing for the #WorldCup26. Probably my favorite detail: the #USMNT got to pick the cities for its group stage games.
They credit the lively soccer culture and excitement in the city built, in part, by and around #Sounders and #SeattleReign
I don’t understand why CBS doesn’t stream #NWSL playoff matches on Paramount+. NWSL should renegotiate the next time the contracts are up. Sell the rights to Apple or ESPN.
I’m 24 hours into being laid off and I’m stunned at the warmth and appreciation from my co-workers and colleagues.
That said, if you know anyone needing the weird combination of #NuclearEnergy and software development, hit me up! Hoping to stay working on numerical systems, python / c++, with a bent towards open source projects
As a new parent, sometimes I feel on the edge of catastrophe. Like I'm one mistake away from irreparably sending my child down a path from which they will never recover.

My round trip bike commute saves an estimated 4 kg (based on 2021 EPA report). For scale, 200 of me would need to bike commute five days a week, 52 weeks a year, for 998 years.
If you know anyone who used #23andMe, please encourage them to take steps to opt out of the new terms of service they’re sending customers.
Basically they got hacked big time. And are putting language in the new ToS that you can’t sue them for losing your DNA information, even though the hack has already happened
