if it walks like malware and talks like malware, license it to game publishers and call it an anti-cheat solution

dangero, to OpenAI

Gotta love how #OpenAI deems that I'm not allowed to know what an image from a TV show looks like because it depicts violence and death. Imagine if I were sighted, but a company had the right to block me and the rest of the world from being able to see certain things because it contained graphic content. That should be my choice, not theirs. This is one reason we shouldn't support game-changing technology being controlled and maintained by corporations like this IMO. #Blind #Accessibility

I respect VLC replacing the usual "agree"/"disagree" radio buttons underneath the GPL license, which is just an indication of your rights and not a document you need to mark your acceptance of, with a simple "You are now aware of your rights 😇" label

maybe it's just because i grew up with it, but i find the original bitmap ms sans serif (sseriffe.fon) way more readable than it has any right to be. it's a helvetica-alike in origin except unlike the macintosh 'geneva' they just went buck wild with the x-height and all these weird touches at small sizes that go way beyond hinting. when windows changed to tahoma it definitely lost a lot of the character imo. less friendly-looking, very slightly less dense, and no more readable

jk,
@jk@mastodon.social avatar

whatever the default windows system font is nowadays looks awful to me, too thin, and i've never installed a linux that had a system font that was particularly great, the only decent system font atm is apple's 'san francisco' imo. so for years now i always configure my linux and windows desktops to use it instead of the defaults. ofc on windows there's all the other bullshit you have to do to get e.g. a windows explorer window that isn't visually horrendous. i think it works pretty well overall
