Cosmos.

To get everything in sharp focus at such a short working distance, a technique called focus stacking was used. A set of 25 images was taken, manually adjusting the focus point of each image to bring a different part of the flower into focus, then using software to combine them into one image.

This is a color, non-silouette version of the photo I posted yesterday, showing off the really nice stone work of the tower building. It is situated at the top of a large hill on the edge of a reservoir, offering some really wonderful views. Unfortunately, photography from the top is spoiled by the old, scratched plexiglass windows.

Today's pointless rant is about car names.

While mowing my front lawn, I caught a glimpse of a small pickup with

“M A V E R I C K”

blazing proudly from the tailgate. No doubt the marketers wished to inspire thoughts of “Mach 2 with your hair on fire” but this one was hauling wicker furniture.

“Bed, Bath, and Beyond, this is M A V E R I C K requesting a fly-by.”
“Negative fly by.”
“Gosh darn it.”
