Look what I found today!!!
Does anybody remember Capacitance Electronic Discs?

Theyre analog video discs where playback on TVs were achieved by using a stylus, similar to that of records. Fucking wild!

Developed by RCA, they failed MISERABLY; due to MANY reasons. By the time they figured it out, they were obsolete, rendered useless by VHS and Laser Discs.

I bought these for $5 for use as art pieces, & because they’re a few of my favorite movies. 💩

I admit to putting Bside on before A and I don't care as Lips Like Sugar and Lost and Found are 2 of my favourite and this is as close to perfection as it gets quality wise

QUICKSAND
Interiors
2017 U.S. pressing

Happy Saturday, everybody.
Time to rise and shine.
LOUDLY.

As far as reunion records go, this ranks right up there with Dinosaur Jr.‘s Beyond and Mission Of Burma’s ONoffON as one of the most triumphant.
Somehow, Quicksand got BETTER while they were away (how is that possible?), and Interiors picks up right where they left off, then, goes further. An exercise that continued with the NEXT album, Distant Populations.

First UK Pressing from The Warriors (1979) soundtrack. Sleeves a bit beaten up and I'll shout at anyone that puts a price label directly on the sleeve. But it sounds great for a 44year old record. @vinylrecords

@RVLara23 @vinylrecords legends from my hometown. I have every record they made on vinyl myself. Are you familiar with Bill’s brother’s band Cold Water Flat? You should check them out, particularly the second album (self titled). Unfortunately Paul Janovitz passed away recently, but his band were just as great as his brother’s.

Just had an uncomfortable conversation with a brash and ignorant 22 year old. Tried to help him out, but he’s 22.

Look, kid. It's about everyone. Perhaps we should live in a society where the things that happen to people are based on merit, but we don't. Your actions have consequences; sometimes they're fair, sometimes they're not, and once you put a chain of events in motion, you have to accept that.
Fighting against it will end in nothing but bad news for you, kid.
Good luck going forward.

THE SONS OF CHAMPLIN
Loosen Up Naturally
1969 2xLP Canada pressing

Is there anybody out there familiar with this record? One of those San Fran bands from the 60s.
I bought this because it had a cool cover and looked kinda trippy/psych-rock-ish.

Not quite sure how I feel about it yet.
Some of it is psychedelic, but there is quite the soul vibe here, which I was not expecting.
Bill Champlin joined the band Chicago in 1981, apparently.

@RVLara23 @vinylrecords amazing. Still have my original. It’s my favorite record in my whole library. That album straight up altered my life in unfathomable ways. Nothing else in their entire catalog touches it. Not Gish. Not Mellon Collie. Nothing.

I’m spinning a lot of 7” records today while I’m working. On the list was Napalm Death’s “Nazi Punks Fuck Off.” It’s a cover of Dead Kennedys. I like the original best, but this is a great cover. And, really, the song name matters more than who is playing it.

Seems I got lucky with having a fairly decently pressed album here. Discogs is full of people with quality control issues with these. Only issue is B and C are mislabelled on the back. But then it was £20 @vinylrecords

1966 Canada 7” pressing

I’m 99% certain I got sunstroke today. It’s hot as hell outside & feel like The Elephant Man.
I battled through to dig through a ton more today for about an hour, & found another 20 or so gems.
This is for sentimental purposes, and the 8 year old version of myself, the lover of the tv show from ‘66. This cover is different than the U.S., but it’s the same record.

NEIL YOUNG
On The Beach
Germany repress
[year unknown]

Just a beautiful summer night. Windows are wide open, having a post-dinner whiskey, and listening to one of my favorite Neil Young records.
I feel that people don’t often mention this much in the pantheon of great Neil albums. I find it very underrated. Ambulance Blues is here, as is the title track, and See The Sky About To Rain, one of the two tracks here that feature Levon Helm on drums.
Love this record.

ULTRAVOX
Vienna
1980 Canada pressing

Truly and honestly one of my ten “Desert Island Discs”. Endlessly playable, and one of the three or so albums I’ve heard more than any other; start to finish.
Midge Ure, dude.
Legend.
Odd that you lose a genius like John Foxx to achieve your “classic lineup”.
With Ure - seven top 10 albums, seventeen top 40 singles in the UK.

This album is flawless. I’ve bought it as a gift on vinyl for at least 15 people.

BLACK SABBATH
Sabotage
1975 Canada pressing

A little Sunday Sabbath never hurt anyone.
I friggin’ love Sabotage. The back-to-back punch of Symptom Of The Universe and Megalomania do it for me every time. Not to mention the epic, gnarly closer The Writ.
It’s almost time to find a new play copy of this, as I’ve had it a long time and have drilled it into the ground.
I will continue to.
One of my favorite hard rock records ever.

QUICKSAND
Distant Populations
2021 U.S. pressing

Another sweltering day outside, so I’m throwing heat on heat.
This was my favorite album of 2021, hands down. Superior to Interiors, their reunion record from 2017.
Long one of my favorite bands, I continue to pledge allegiance to the flag of the badass state of Quicksand.
Their album MANIC COMPRESSION was recently reissued, & i ordered it today.
It’s on its way!
Then my Quicksand collection will be complete.
