The President of Iceland Guðni Thorlacius Jóhannesson @presidentisl has something in common with our Software Engineer, Geir Gunnarson and it involves the ocean.
Find out what it is and read about why the President and his wife, First Lady Eliza Jean Reid, made a visit to our Iceland office last week. 🌊👇

I'm assuming @jon was taking the photo on the blog page. I hope he has some pics of him and the President. Such a landmark day for the Vivaldi team!

VIVALDI has taken the so-called 'social networks' in a new, strong and diverse direction. A healthy surprise. I hardly believed it, I found it by chance, and here I am.
Sure, too many choices can be overwhelming. But regardless of the number of options, context is paramount. Context makes decision-making that much easier, especially when the decision has an everyday impact.
And, with the web browser being an integral part of your everyday digital life at work or otherwise, it should be obvious that you're able to make an informed choice and pick from the best options given to you.
❌ However, this isn't the case for most of you.
Our CEO, Jón von Tetzchner @jon shared with Reuters that if you're using an iPhone, you see the list of browser choices only when you select Safari, with no additional information.
"The process is just so convoluted that it's easiest for (users) to select Safari or potentially some other known name." - Jon.
🇪🇺 This has prompted the European Commission to start a non-compliance investigation against Apple, in light of the recently enforced DMA (Digital Markets Act) to investigate whether Apple may be preventing you from truly exercising your choice of services, for example, with their design of the browser Choice Screen.
@Vivaldi@jon@EU_Commission@Reuters The linked Reuters article is a bit strange; because now I'm thinking Ecosia makes browser. Do they, and where can I get it?
In response to the European Union's DMA (Digital Market's Act) Apple’s current Choice Screen design is flawed as they look at it very narrowly, per platform and country.
We think priority should be given to cross-platform browsers.
The main browser choices should be visible and we aren't. Quality matters and we should be on the list for all countries.
Find out more about what we think about the current state of affairs with Apple's Browser Choice Screen.
🍕🚀 Your browser experience, just like your favorite pizza, should be fully customizable to suit your tastes. And at Vivaldi, your feedback is the secret sauce that makes it all possible! 🌟
But like any great recipe, sometimes the ingredients don't quite blend as intended.
After the release of Vivaldi 6.6 on Android, our efforts to unify menus and toolbars led to unintended consequences.

@Vivaldi But isn't it obvious, but with even (!) a reload button in the omnibox, a swipe to refresh the page should be optional? What is there to discuss here, this is a must have problem. It has been indirectly touched upon many times on the forum, including in English.
As for the side gestures that duplicate the "back" and "forward" buttons, judge for yourself from this screenshot, can you use them? Add to that the enabled system-wide gestures. Triple overlay! Triple - and not only on this forum. So, they should be made optional too, they are only useful for people who use underscreen- or osd-buttons, not gestures for firmware. I mean, it just needs to be done, otherwise the discussion will drag on for another 5 years.
@Vivaldi I apologize for the possible harshness, but please pay attention to this thread. The request is about to be 4 years old. The request is as simple as 2 cents. Kiwi, Cromite, Firefox - have import/export of bookmarks, and android/Vivaldi - do not. I don't know why the most simple and everyday things can't be done in a week or a month. But I'm afraid it's the same story with gestures.

For Nick Tsakiris, CFO at SUBTECH SPORTS, the Vivaldi browser has been more than a browser, it’s been a productivity tool.
Read about how with two of our many browser features—Workspaces and Tab Stacks—you too can turn the browser into one of your best productivity tools in your digital life.
@Vivaldi I usually don't look too much at the suggestions, I either know where I want to go, or I do a #duckduckgo search (or I use one of my custom search engines, like @alternativeto (aliased as "alt ") )
@Vivaldi, I don't use search suggestions. After decades of internet, I have hal the content in my bookmarks and for specific searches I go to the corresponding reliable source (Wiki, Wolphram, diccionarys, research centers, etc.), now with AI (Andisearch) made easier.
When it comes to the growth of a company or product, it's both crucial and beneficial to remember the lessons learned from past blunders.
Take one Tech Giant's finger-pointing incident, for instance, where blaming their product users for a design flaw backfired spectacularly.
With Vivaldi, we take a different approach. Dive deep into how we prioritize feedback from people using our products and empower you to tailor your browsing experience to your unique preferences.
We believe our tech shouldn't dictate your browsing experience; it should adapt to you.
So, whether you're a minimalist or a power user, Vivaldi has something for everyone.
@Vivaldi
How to get Firefox (and windows) to work with me not against me (I am not allowed to use Vivaldi at work, and it's super annoying) without add-ons
At least I found the global colour replacement option in settings so I could not get blinded by the lightmode
@Vivaldi I found the thing on the blog. Was that all? I assumed this would lead to an easter egg inside the browser, because of the wording in the explanation (1st hint/2nd hint). Well Easter is over, I’ll try next year ^^ good game!
Over at Iceland, Easter isn't just another day—it's a big deal! Everyone’s buzzing with excitement, especially when those Icelandic Easter eggs and candy rewards roll in. 🐰🥚
Find out why Easter eggs, bursting with candy and surprises, is a newer tradition in Iceland.
And it’s still possible to participate in our virtual Easter egg hunt too. So join the fun and give it a go!👇🐣🍫
