@ada@blahaj.zone

I'm an Australian woman, based in Meanjin / Brisbane, but in love with Argentina. In a previous life, I was a Trans activist, runner, and RollerDerby player. Now that we are all "post" covid, I feel like I'm still somehow finding my feet, and working out what I want to keep from my old life, and what I want to add to it! I have the feeling I will never get a final answer :)

I'm co-admin blahaj.zone and lemmy.blahaj.zone.

My photography can be found at @ada https://pixelfed.au/i/portfolio/Ada

I can also be found on matrix at ada:chat.blahaj.zone

Here is my post!

Hi there! For those of y'all who don't know what my career path is, mine is a multi-passionate path in which I expertise in the following crafts / careers:

One: Broadcasting, podcasting, and reporting. My career began in the 1990s as the music director at a rather significant college radio station in Chicago. Since then, I anchored the morning news at a major public radio station in the Northwest and I've a since-retired podcast about sex and sexuality.

Two: Composer, singer/songwriter and musician. I did it all, literally. Soundtracks for films both above- and underground; music director and performer for operas and musicals; self-produced albums, singles and YouTube videos; keyboardist, drummer, percussionist, guitarist, bassist, flautist, ukulist. All genres, all styles, no bragging, no kidding.

Three: Social media, modeling: What you're reading now. What you usually see on Wednesdays.

Since all of these are important to me, I'd love to get paid at any of these. I'm open to whatever fits the bill as long as it's in a city/state/region/country I'm mostly safe in. Particularly Seattle WA , Portland OR and vicinity -- I'd move further east if I had more dough.

Please hit "send a message" if there's a lead you find. I have my CV on the ready.

In the meantime, my partner's overtime got cut so we're $500 short on rent. Sorry to ask after y'all helped me with the internet bill, but climbing back is a (hopefully )short, yet challenging road.

Sulphur-crested Cockatoo (Cacatua galerita) - Kedron Brook Wetlands Reserve, Brisbane, Australia - May 2024

A very similar shot to yesterday, but this time using what I've learned about masking in darktable to pull the cockatoo out of the background some more.

are great, aren’t they? Mad little flying dinosaurs who move in jerky stop motion and are forever shouting at each other and poking their pointy faces into things.

Hello, people!

I'm new to Blåhaj Zone and Mastodon in general. I just spent 3 hours deciding on a username and making a pfp, so I think I'll take a break and finish setting things up later.

After community consultation we have redesigned the new G class tram, to fit more in with the recommendations.
But to be honest, we think Depot Cat may have swayed the results somehow. What do you reckon?

Have you heard about the rising tensions between yoghurt and penicillin? One's probiotic and the other's antibiotic.

They're starting a culture war.

Noisy miners (Manorina melanocephala) - Kedron Brook, Brisbane, Australia - April 2024

This photo is notable because it's the first photo I've done using Linux for my entire end to end post processing. My workflow isn't close to as efficient as it was in Lightroom, but it feels good to be free of it!

I love how everyone’s version of queer is uniquely theirs.

I love that expression is important to me but not others, dyed hair is part of my queerness, but not others’. I love that I’m a queer activist and others are not. I love that it’s about attraction for some and not others.

I love the breadth, depth, and dimensions of queerness. I love learning about others’ queerness and what it means to them. I love comparing notes and smile when we diverge. I love queerness and queers.

Letting your players know the next session will be about events on a train trip they're taking is telegraphing a railroad.

Pressuring the group to wire messages to their allies, on the other hand, is railroading a telegram.

Important distinction.

Pre-internet: only know people who are generally around you

Early internet: finding your rare little slice of culture all over the globe!!

Social internet: oh no this machine exists for starting fights

Now internet: using every tool available to go narrow, narrow, narrow, back to huddling amongst the people who are “generally around you”, but, like, spiritually. And from anywhere in the whole world.
