@adamjcook Same with some of our windows. I'm quite thankful I bought air filters to mitigate allergies and household COVID transmission risk last year.
I was at #Chicago Pride all weekend while visiting with my wife (videos and photos soon!), so I missed this #Tesla Drama concerning #FSDBeta that erupted.
Ok.
Let us, again, all put on our #SystemsSafety hats and take a look at the situation here as I understand it.
Below is the video that kicked the beehive between Tesla defenders and detractors on "what really happened?".
This clearly chaotic video was taken from a larger drive sequence in which FSD Beta was active.
The video above was extracted from the Tweet shown below.
If you do not know the players involved here...
Ross Gerber is the individual driving this #Tesla vehicle. Ross is an ardent Tesla supporter, Tesla investor and a prominent voice within the Tesla Community.
Dan O'Dowd is the individual in the passenger seat. Dan is the creator of The Dawn Project which primarily targets Tesla's #FSDBeta program in terms of what it perceives as its public safety issues.
First off, one really has to "love" the placement of the mobile device charging pads in this #Tesla vehicle - a vehicle which is unvalidated as it pertains to being equipped with a highly-complex automated driving system, no less.
The placement of these pads ensure maximum driver inattentiveness to the roadway and to the dynamic driving task.
This is not a "side issue". The #HumanFactors components are an integral part of the human-machine system in terms of a validation process.
A shame that the current deadbeat owners do not take better care of it.
But, better days are surely ahead.
The 40-story, white terra cotta, Late Gothic Revival building on the left is Cadillac Tower which, believe it or not, is vacant (but secured for future development).
But it looks like the three buildings next to the Harvard Square Centre Building (which is currently undergoing renovation into residential units) on Broadway Avenue might soon undergo their own "renovation".
That little area of #Detroit could sure use a boost... and it looks like it just might be happening.
Today is #Juneteenth Freedom Fest at Eastern Market - hosted by the Metro-Detroit #Black Business Alliance and the Detroit Branch #NAACP and a few other local organizations.
I know next to nothing about #EU political figures or business leaders, but it sure is interesting that the #VIVATech conference would headline #Musk, an individual that has spent the entire month targeting the #LGBTQ community and is now dabbling in #racism just in time for #Juneteenth.
No surprise that #Italy's current leadership would embrace Musk.
@adamjcook if georgia melonie is still italy's leader, thats why. france is a weird one, some things seem good, some bad, but this is def going in the very bad category and putting macron in that category too!!
This building is planned to be renovated into residential units under the so-called "District Detroit" project which has received significant city and state financial backing.
@coreysnipes@adamjcook I trained as an architect, and we study quite a bit how the modern movement was very much enticed by machine aesthetics. I linked the Banham book on this thread, I was planning to re-read it...
I think you'd be surprised how you can apply this mindset with good aesthetic results in other fields (with a few tweaks).
@CrackedWindscreen Frankly, the #German carmakers, after having so misread #China's ambitions and long-term planning in this space (as you have noted before)... may just be resigning to the inevitable in terms of a forever-modest Mainland China market.
China will never allow another "VW Group China-like entity" to dominate again, and I believe that includes #Tesla.
In general, I do not support improving #China-#US economic relationships... and more than that, the US needs to at least have a quasi-unofficial economic policy of a complete decoupling from China-to-US imports (as China effectively has via its Made In China 2025 program).
I appreciate the timing issues and the heat from US business leaders that the #Biden Administration is under here, but this will cost us dearly in time.
@ablackcatstail I will take any partial agreement on this! 😅
This talk of mine is obviously foreign (from how the West has operated in China for years) and somewhat uncomfortable, but I think there needs to be urgency at home (and in the West) on this.
Shoot for a complete decoupling on imports.
Shoot for US companies to completely exit China (if by law, if we must).
And then let's see where we eventually end up.
A China, ruled by the #CCP dictatorship, is not be trusted.
