Another weekend, another sideswipe at in the weekend press.

This time, its Ian Leslie (FT) in an article on X, collective action(s) and the alternatives to 's sh*tshow... while focussing on , Leslie says in passing that like other rivals Mastodon 'requires a degree in computer science to use'!

Nonsense!

Once again, a journalist/writer dissing the by making out it's much more complex to use than its actually is.

It make me so f**king annoyed....

@ChrisMayLA6 i think the "it's too hard" is due to the algorithm (or lack of). Corporate solutions push things to you and "learns" the keywords that trigger engagement from you.

With Mastodon that engagement is driven by you. If you don't engage and like and follow and curate, then your feed looks either a bit barren or just full of shit that don't interest you.

But yeah, it's a bit of an exaggeration to say you need a degree to use.

Updating my post because I feel like I'm going to be here a while ☺️

Quickly, first up all of my content (especially the AI generated stuff) that I put up on Mastodon will be covered by CC BY-SA . Basically, you can use and remix my stuff but you gotta let others do the same to whatever you create with the original. Also, please link me in and show me what you did!
