I couldn't help but write about my experience talking about
@servo at the Seattle Rust User Group meetup last month. I was impressed with the crowd and the energy!

This was my first meetup after 6-7 years, but also a reminder of why I like it!

Was looking for on old graph I had made 20 years ago about how tests can pass and the same time not having interop (one of the points of @bkardell recent post https://bkardell.com/blog/WPT-Dashboard.html ), but I could not find it (Eventually I will), but funny I found this about head elements used in body circa 2007 :D https://www.w3.org/2007/05/dom-head-body

companies don’t build for users, they build for the shareholders. and the shareholders don’t use what companies build, nor do they talk to users.

i don’t know how to fix this, but framing the challenge this way has given me ideas and decisions to consider vs fully losing hope which many of us have exhaustively been fighting.

For those of you who make a PWA / Home Screen web app, do you use Fullscreen API inside your web app? Do you need it??

Or as a general web developer, how do you like Fullscreen API?? Do you wish it were different / better?

Hey friends - when do you recommend use of a roving tab index? When do you say proceed with caution, and when is definitely not appropriate?

Having some discussions where the sentiment from others is it can be "an accelerator" for getting though a "collection" but I'm not finding evidence for that recommendation vs allowing normal tab behavior outside of tabs or custom radio-type groups.

(Not so secretly hoping this nerd-snipes some of you into a blog post 👀)

We’ve been funding the creation & distribution of high quality AI-voiced audio versions of books in Hindi (and other languages) through DAISY and are currently working on a related project for audio descriptions of tactile images.

It’s such important work and great to hear what else is happening in the ecosystem.

Several of the major social media platforms - Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, Twitter - have effectively declared war on linking to things and I absolutely hate it

"Link in my bio" / "Link in thread" / "Link in first comment"... or increasingly no link at all, just an unsourced screenshot of a page

Of geek interest: UUIDs have been around for a long time and they work well and interoperate fine, but the specification space is a mess. So the IETF just shipped RFC9562; it has a fine consideration of the history and the trade-offs involved in all the different flavors of UUIDs, and is well-written and I think, as of now, the place to start looking if something UUID-flavored is puzzling you. Strong work! https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc9562.html
