@mathowie It's a drag that I have to remember how to make a new one of these every time a political text makes it past my iOS automations, but they've worked pretty well for me:
@stefan AFAIK, the closest that Ivory comes to using AI/ML for alt text is the inbuilt iOS photo feature (Live Text) that'll detect words in an image and copy them over to the image description.
(Growing up in the tropics, we never had anything frozen. It’s more of a cultural bias from lack of exposure)
Yoshinoya is also what I spent all my pocket money on as a teenager, so it also makes me feel nostalgic even tho I can make better gyudon from scratch now
@skinnylatte The only Yoshinoya I've ever had is the stuff from their restaurants here in the US. And that was consistently terrible.
Given that I trust your taste in food, I am also operating under the assumption that this is better than what I could walk in and get at a Yoshinoya here. 😉
Posting to my blog is so fucking frustrating now. I have to get off Wordpress. They have screwed the pooch so badly. I don't need blocks, I just need a decent writing environment. What a shame.
So, I'm trying this out... Mastodon only for now! I want to be a part of a "WP Builds" community, but all-the-platforms seem to put themselves first... ads, and ways to monetise. I recently found Discord, and set up a WP Builds server. I'm no expert, and WILL screw things up, but if you're into WordPress and want to try this out with me, here's a link to join our Discord: https://discord.gg/fCrfrvgpv6 I hope that this works!!!! Please let me know if it does not!?!? 😀
Something I look forward to every Tuesday now is the email I get from Plex telling me what @mathowie has been watching, it saves so much time because I don't need to ask him anymore and instead I can ask him awkward questions
Friendly reminder: If you find yourself absolutely needing to share a post from Chris, Jairaj, and Hamish's Nazi Haven (#Substack) it only adds another minute to ask https://archive.today to grab a fresh copy for you so you can link there instead and not give them any additional traffic.
Example: Here's this 🔥 ass post from Ed Zitron (who is moving his newsletter away from the bad place) that y'all can now read without giving #Substack any additional traffic:
Lately I’ve been loving audiobooks written/performed by comedians. They’re like high production podcasts lasting 6-8hrs, costing 15 bucks and honestly? A good deal. They tend to slow down the pace to maybe 1 big joke per minute instead of rapid-fire open mic standup.
It’s kind of silly the authors have to get a book deal, spend years writing, wait 1-2 years for publishing to put it out, then record their book.
I wish I could just pay a comedian $20 directly for a mp3 (cut out the print aspect)
@skyfaller We bought a Withings Thermo on sale a few years ago and it works pretty well.
We even spot test the Thermo occasionally against a cheap, generic under the tongue thermometer from CVS. The readings consistently fall within 0.1–0.2℉ of each other.
@skyfaller I'm sure it's way “smarter” than what you're looking for tho. We don’t even use the app :mr_yuk: or anything that's attached to it.
(TBH, we probably wouldn't have even bought it were it not literally the only thermometer on sale that wasn’t a genericized “Alibaba special” drop shipped directly for resale at Amazon/Walmart/etc.)
