@twostraws @mikaelacaron @swiftovercoffee Currently starting working with a large bank whose accessibility efforts are heartening!

Accessibility is part of the ticket and design before we work on it, and mandatory before a ticket is done.
Special accessible font!
There’s a special accessibility guild to help other teams in their efforts and to create our own guidelines for within the company.
And there’s regular audits that happen to see if the apps and website comply.

@twostraws @mikaelacaron @swiftovercoffee Currently helping them further by increasing what accessibility should be in the design, improving common components the developers can use and generally informing folks what type of accessibility resources and technical aids are available!

The goal is a WCAG 2.2 AA rating before 2025! ✊ Also because of EU compliance 😅

Teaching and learning a ton! 🥰

@twostraws Oh yeah, those go by the 400mg, you’re right. Still take the largest one I can get, though I try to avoid Ibuprofen when I can. It’s rare that paracetamol doesn’t do enough for me, thankfully.

My focus for reading this coming year (other than finishing my PhD) is fantasy. I know so little about the genre that I don’t know where to start. Also, carrying on with SF.

@jamesthomson @leeg If you’re in the mood for something grimmer, I really enjoyed the “The Black Company” series by Glen Cook. Kind of reads like a campaign log of a common mercenary, in a world where there’s definitely magic.

Currently reading “Girl and the Mountain” by Mark Lawrence, which is #2 in a trilogy. In a permafrosted world, a young woman tries to figure out what powers are controlling everything and how to get to that final bit of green.

This piece has many good points, but mischaracterizes the work Apple and Google are doing. You can debate who does it better, but it isn’t like either company suddenly work up one day and said, “Oh shit, we need accessibility” and moved hurriedly. To paraphrase @gruber, this is definitely not how Apple rolls in the accessibility arena.

@steven_aquino The article makes a lot of “in the last few years” and “have finally realized” remarks… haven’t both tech giants been making large, focused strides in accessibility for at least a decade? Probably more in Apple’s case?

Okay, this has to be one of the most accident-prone runs I've had yet…

  • Murdered my poor pet of one turn
  • Murdered the temple priest of my god
  • Lost some great armor to stupid spells
  • No magic markers
  • Not a lot of enchants

At least some of that got better when I found not one but three wands of deaths… that does make the Ascension Run quite a bit easier.

Definitely not my best run… it was very sparse on consumables, but I did manage to get most of my Ascension Kit sorted out before the Castle!

The lack of consumables did make me wish for blessed full potions of healing on the Astral Plane though 🤭

Now I've ascended the Wizard, Valkyrie, Samurai and Barbarian. What should I do next?

Phew! This was a doozy… didn't get lucky with the altar this time, though at least I didn't have try all three of them.

And of course, I couldn't resist summoning all my pet purple worms to ascend with me… too bad two of them immediately fell defending me.

The real question is how far can they bring the price down for a cheaper consumer model; $1,499 with an A-series chip is still very high-end, but leaves all other headsets down in the sub-$1,000 space. Do you just abandon that price range? Or do you build a third product? Many questions about the future of Apple Vision
