@thunderbird @thunderbird So… is anyone keeping tabs on #Betterbird? I can’t say I’m fond of everything they’ve done, but in the world of “we care about using Graph with #O365 #Exchabge” this is starting to gain steam. I’m resisting g the fork, but I’m curious what the team has to say on the subject.

Indeed the latest round of chat revolved around a version of #TbSync hacked to talk to #GraphAPI.

Today. Was. Just. Too. Much.

Endless work meetings. Slack. Interruptions. HOA Committee Texts. School meetings. School district meetings. Music lesson.

At some point at about 3pm I just had enough. And when this happens I tend to leave chats. Cancel or ignore messages or meetings.

I have to for my sanity. I have learned that if I push on I truly burn out and am not useful for anyone.

Why does our society encourage this???

My current world order, where my morning and overnight schedule has largely shifted to accommodate a crazy early start to get kiddo ready for alternate school pickup, has resulted in my not being up as late at night as I used to be.

What I’ve realized is this seriously impacts my productivity. I’m way more productive at quiet times in mg day, and now my working time is constrained to when others are around. This sucks.

“S.O.S.” by Allie Sisk

A friend shared this short film by her Autistic daughter, who’s about to start at college. This is her attempt to “capture [my] feelings that [I get] of anxiety or stress when under pressure.”

🧵 1/2 I know people have all kinds of opinions about and its ways. But there are these moments of utter bliss and delight that happen with . Like when I open an email from son’s school, and it has a field trip form attached. I open it to read it. Then I’m asked if I’d like to complete the form. Yes, please.

I pick and choose what to fill in. I SIGN it with an actual signature. Then asked if I’d like to send it back. Oh YEAH!

We hit a coin show in Sunnyvale today and made a few finds. Better yet, we met some great people and got a few pointers to collector groups that my son will check out and maybe find some great community!

A sample of today’s finds at the coming show.

🧵1/2 Someone has a really rotten sense of humor today. I make a simple request of IT, and have to do it in a channel that’s truly horrible about doing things properly. Fine.

But then hours and hours go by. So I finally decide to run an errand for my son after lunch. I’m about five minutes from home, driving, when several people pop into my slack asking to help.

🧵1/2 About 10 minutes away from parent teacher conference. There will be 8-10 people reading from their report over the 30 minute length of the meeting.

I’ve decided that I’ll zoom from my phone so I can’t possibly read along. No, feel free to read it as you intended. If you want to save time, listen to my repeated requests that you email a copy at least a day before. That is all. Suffer away.

Yep, the social oppression is upon us once again. I lately ignore it. My son is unable to escape it at school though. Teacher sent email to parents indicating students would need to make one for every student, lest anyone be left out, but they can’t provide us a list due to privacy. So please produce X cards with “class peer” as the name! How awfully useless!

Son decides he hasn’t the spoons for X generic cards. 👍👍👍

One thing I notice about being sick or exhausted, say after a night of poor sleep, is that my anxiety level trying to usher son through his getting ready is far less. I just don’t have the energy to get to that place. A place I didn’t really want to be.

Is there a way to avoid getting to that anxious place when I have the energy, I wonder… 🤔

Am I the only person to notice that CBS News showed an advertisement for Autism Speaks today, during national news at 4PM PT? I live in SF Bay Area, and I’m not sure if this was just from local KPIX. I do certainly plan to reach out and raise their attention to the harm this group causes.

🧵 1/3 I’ve been out of commission a couple days due to flu. Feeling better and heading to see family for a bit. Needed to get a couple of errands done. Gas. Meds. A bit of groceries. No biggie.

But it’s Friday before Christmas. Of course. Everyone and their third and fourth cousins are packing places like CVS and Safeway. Parking lots filled with confused people are annoying. Deep breaths.

🤣🤣🤣 @cnnbrk Here’s some breaking news, CNN Breaking News. Not everyone is running Brave. I don’t. Many do run privacy controls. How ironic that our privacy controls are blocking your “privacy protections,” and you insist we should TRUST YOU. Is that like trusting Meta to protect users’ phone numbers by passing their chats through Meta servers…?

So hilarious. Thank you for self-deselecting from my trusted news sources. 🤣🤣🤣

I’m beginning to try Olvid messenger as a replacement for Telegram and others.

  • Symmetric encryption
  • No servers
  • No accounts
  • No passwords
  • No phone numbers
  • All chats are implicitly private
  • Open source
  • Freemium pricing model.

I was in a weird null space this past weekend. I knew I had things I wanted to get to but just had literally no drive to do much. I did manage a few things but these were in the evening.

Sometimes I think my pattern is that I’m more productive when there are literally no people around that I know of. It’s not that they’re talking to me, but the very prospect of having to expend energy interacting with or avoiding them switches my drive off.

I've been on the search for a option that supports multiple SSID associated to tagged , which span into the LAN. I do this now with to my router. But I need better WiFi coverage.

So far, it's looking like and devices do this, but one isn't high on my expectations list and one isn't easily acquired in the US. So I'm trying the Orbi Pro and we'll see...

I’ve been noticing, in my random sleep times, that I’m way more productive if I crash early in the evening and wake in the early morning (2-4am). If I ride the energy and take my time starting up, I enter the daylight hours feeling much more energetic and productive. I’m not sure if I want to make this a regular thing but it might be better than trying to stay up late after kiddo is down for sleep.

@1password I previously began using the ssh identity provider and have enjoyed it. On a lark I took a stab at trying the CLI. I used inject to transform one of my bash scripts to self-modifying. It’s got dozens of op:// tokens in it and doing individual “op read”lookups was too slow. But having it inject itself into a tmpfs copy used until next reboot, and then redirecting calls to that copy, has worked a treat!

I’m glad you guys have added these features even if I’m late to the game. 😁

Tuesday was exciting. Worked a health expo at work for our ND employee group. Dropped husband off at airport. Son decided to inspect the inside of a Lithium Ion battery.

Yes, it outgassed and filled his room with smoke. Alarms. testing and cleanup. It’s been… exciting. 🤣

Been quiet the past couple days. Had been stressing about family visit. It’s been OK actually, even though I didn’t get everything on my list done.

I must say that having the house decluttered has been so nice. As always I’m baffled why I waited, but then I also get why brain inhibits me sometimes.

Goal is to find tactics to help avoid the clutter from blossoming. I’m trying are ideas to start. I like thinking of it as a gift to myself.
