I like #flowers and #plants, especially #cacti. I like the #desert. I love my family. I vote blue. I hope the world will be a better place because I’m in it.
My beautiful sister @ccellis & her wonderful husband were here for a few days, & I love their company so much!
I'm home now so I got to start emergency care for my poor #rose bushes which have suffered so much from neglect.
I fertilized & deep-watered them & now I have to research how to restore them from a variety of ailments.
AND OUR LIME TREE which hasn't produced a single lime in the past 3 years now has a dozen limes growing on it!
Since I would like to see more people checking out Mastodon, I thought I would try posting some of the premium content from here on the only other social network that I use which happens to be LinkedIn (I know, I know, but it really is the only other one I am on) so I decided to start with some of @Deglassco's great American History threads. Please join me in doing the same! 😊
More cactus flowers in my garden from Saturday. I got the cuttings from a guy on an orchard near Fresno, CA, he has a 40 year old cactus collection, all in the ground. I need to contact him to get the names of all the cacti he gave me! #cactus#flowers#bloomscrolling
@Studio_Gal I will bring one to you! And ALL my neighbors have them🙂🙂🙂. I think the UC Extension developed Dragon Fruit for commercial production at the UC Davis Field Station in Irvine, so they are very suitable for Orange County!
I joined an acting class, in the early early '80's. The coach's 'studio' was the ground floor of his house, we did our scenes in the living room & we huddled on the stairway to the upstairs for planning our scenes.
The door to the 2nd floor was always locked.
when the acting coach got married (to a rather elderly woman), his wife had to sit in the living room with us b/c she wasn't allowed upstairs when the coach was downstairs.
Just flashed on that random memory while watching #Barry
I love Wirecutter but…really? “The easiest way to maintain the Platinum Elite, or any suitcase you own, is to occasionally lubricate the zipper with a waxy or lubricating household substance such as lip balm, crayon wax, or graphite shavings from a pencil.” https://www.nytimes.com/wirecutter/reviews/travelpro-luggage-review/ I cannot imagine how to remember to ever do this.
Yesterday I saw a YouTube video about obscure #fruits in North America. I was interested in seeing the Osage Orange because a relative of mine used to love #osage wood.
Anyway, I didn't know the Osage is an evolutionary anachronism. That is, the animals that spread its seeds are gone. Only humans spread the #seeds now, with intentional plantings.
It sounds so existentially forlorn. 😥
