@lemongin @GuyDudeman @RickiTarr I look at it this way: either one communicates the idea, even though one is “more” correct.

I try not to engage in pronunciation correction any longer unless it’s the topic of conversation. Otherwise it just gets in the way of communication.

Today I was gently corrected that Haleiwa is pronounced “Ha-le-iv-a” (“v” sound, not “w”). Cool, thank you fellow whitey, but you knew WTF I was talking about, didn’t you?

@mcc Agree 100%.

Though if the venue is small enough, I’ve found a few sound board engineers who appreciate the need for ear protection and have given me some of theirs.

So, the hubs and I have a one of the long term couple debates about when is the best time to shower.

For me, a shower is calming and relaxing, so I tend to do it in the evening or before bed.

He says it's refreshing and energizing, so it helps him wake up, and get going in the morning.

How about y'all, is it relaxing, refreshing, something in between, or something different entirely? When do you normally do it? Have you always done it the same or have you changed over the years?

    I’m annoyed that PC Gamer says Doom is the “spiritual” start of PC gaming. No, it isn’t.

    I don’t deny Doom’s impact, or that it’s become the “mascot” of PC gaming—much like Super Mario has become the “mascot” for console gaming. But to say it’s the “start” of PC gaming, even if spiritually? No, not at all.

    Look, Doom itself had a spiritual ancestor: Catacomb 3-D released three years prior.

    But PC gaming is not about first person shooters. Other games have been just as impactful as Doom: Zork, Rogue, Castle Wolfenstein, King’s Quest, Wasteland, Civilization, SimCity, Wing Commander—all games released before Doom.

    This narrative of Doom being the “start” of PC gaming needs to stop.

    Let's talk Anger. Anger is a normal human emotion. Women are often taught to suppress it. Men are often taught it's the only emotion they are allowed to express. Anger that is fleeting, nothing wrong with that, but what about the anger that stays? Anger that doesn't fade means something, it's a propellant. It pushes us to change. If we don't change, and we stay in it or we refuse to acknowledge it, it starts to destroy us from the inside, our health, our contentment.

    What has anger meant in your life? How has it affected you in the past? How does it affect you now?

    @RickiTarr Anger has been my baseline for as long as I can remember.

    Anger has manifested from lots of bullying trauma exoerienced from childhood to adulthood. It affects how I see myself and my relationships with others.

    About a year ago, I sought professional help. It has given me the insight into what happened to me and given me the tools to better deal with my past and my present to affect a better present and future.

    @RickiTarr I also stopped drinking six months ago, which has also helped as I was a mean, angry drunk usually, but was not the only reason for my decision.

    I’d say I’m better, but not cured. I guess you could say I’ve leveled up in self awareness, but have more work to do.

    @RickiTarr My thoughts go back to the likes of Lightsaber Kid.
