    We found an empty concrete building in the woods when we were hiking, and I convinced my friends to let me take 90's band photos of them, but somehow they look like they are all in a different kind of band!

    I think everyone should live the exact lifestyle they wish, as long as they aren't hurting anyone. Which is why I fully support LGBTQ+, Neurodivergents, and just generally anyone who deviates from the "norm", but I can't in good conscience support Billionaires.

    @RickiTarr Strictly speaking, yes, however, not like I did last year.

    Daily news I usually go to the publication’s site or an aggregator.

    For hobbies and interests, I’ve had to rebuild my sources. I found a great cross-sectional community of programming, making, and other geekery here.

    Alas, I haven’t filled the comic book hole. I’ve read much of that talent moved to BlueSky. The only comic talent I see on Masto is Greg Pak, and this is his photography outlet (which is great to follow).

    It's a gloomy rainy day, perfect for a pot of tea and a spooky movie or two!

    Give me your suggestions for a good spooky movie! I'm not a big fan of torture porn or excessive gore (unless it's so over the top it's silly), but otherwise I like mysteries, thrillers, haunting, monsters, B movies, aliens, black and whites, anything really.

    It’s unfortunate (in a sense) that while temperatures were extreme this year (warmest in the instrumental record in many places), most of the US and Europe were spared so many will feel that this level of warming is no big deal.

    To recap the , it was just so much fun. And not just the beer drinking (which really was partying in orderly chaos, German style), but also all the rides. I particularly enjoyed the old rides and attractions. Rotor was hilarious to ride (it's basically a spinning centrifuge where they then pull away the floor and you're then stuck to the wall), while watching Teufelsrad was great entertainment: you basically get onto a spinning platform and try to stay on as long as possible.

    @akrennmair I recall entering the Augustiner tent after dawn and exiting not knowing what time it was at dusk. Time stands still inside an tent while life goes on outside. It felt like space-time was folded. 🍻

    @clive I allowed my front lawn to die this summer. HOA cannot enforce anything because we are in drought conditions and water restrictions in Bexar County, Texas. I plan on xeriscaping and reducing the amount of grass in my yard significantly.
